The only REAL mistakes made, imo, were:

1) BrExit ... The people voted to Leave, (not me but 17.4 million did), so you can't justify Remain being on a Second/Confirmatory referendum ballot.

You could have walked it IF you offered Johnson's 'deal' v Labour 'deal' with the other policies.

2) You needed a Labour equivalent of 'Get BrExit Done'. Something SIMPLE, RELEVANT & MEMORABLE.

You're correct in that Labour party problems started way back not in 2015 under Corbyn.

It was a reasonable point, made in the 80's, that the Labour left would never be given a fair press or broadcast ... Clearly even more true today ... BUT giving in to that is NOT the answer ... What's the point of democracy in a FPTP system that essentially has the choice between two Tory centrist parties 😶

Very very sad to see him go from Labour's frontbenches. A true marxist always thinking in the bigger economic picture, thinking strategically and long-term. Of course, Labour shouldn't have been so intimidated by Lib Dems and the New Labour Remainer Right, but I'll miss Mc Donnells principles and desire for a more equal society and I really hope the next shadow chancellor shares or at least comes close to John's values.

It was everything. Brexit, Corbyn, McDonnell. It was everything. Also Tories only increased their share of the vote by 1% while Labour lost around 8%. Add to the mix that more voters backed remain parties than leave and it's clear that Brexit was only half the issue for Labour losing. To pretend it was just Brexit is denial on an obscene scale.

In one traditional Labour constituency, canvassers reported Corbyn as the problem over brexit, by 4-1. In others 2-1.
