John McDonnell on NHS privatisation and Heathrow expansion under Labour

John McDonnell says a Labour government would eradicate all traces of privatisation from the health service. Speaking ahead of the first full week of election campaigning, the shadow chancellor also says Labour could scrap the expansion of Heathrow because it does not meet the party's criteria on environmental, economic and social impacts

The thing is the nhs has been around for 71 years 44 of those years under a Tories govt and the only one to sell NHS designed and engineered medicine was labour!

What the world needs is a GHS (global health service) - paid for by a global corporations tax (which has the double benefit of ending corporate tax dodging because it is 'global').
The NHS is the 5th largest employer on the planet - imagine how many jobs a GHS would create. It would solve unemployment worldwide at a stroke.

I'm all for cancelling the heathrow expansion, perhaps expand another airport further north? But cancelling all private contracts with the NHS? That's a bonkers proposition, if anything the opposite should be true! The private providers who do NHS work get paid the same as the NHS hospitals doing it, they're not profiteering, they use the NHS work as a substitute to ensure they can keep their facilities functioning for those patients who do choose to go private and more often than not, it's the same Consultant who carries out the procedure in both locations!
