1.39 minutes video reveal all the confusion and mystery of Lithium Ion Batteries ..
i was struggle for more than 3 hours with other YouTubers , Yet nobody explain Why ? we need a special circuitry to charge Li-ion Batteries ...
Now i can build my own DIY Lithium Batteries Charger, Or salvage it, and i can choose the components and Ic's because just now i knew Why ..
Thank U Afrotechmodes , Wonderful Video ..

Wow nice and short explanation I like this type

Your video is very informative. I have no knowledge of lithium ion battery so about a year ago I charged it the same way as Ni Cd (with power supply at higher voltage with resistor in series). After several months, the lithium ion battery bloated and failed.

Why is the magic number 4.2V? Is it because a LiPo battery has a nominal voltage of 3.7V per cell and 4.2V is it's peak voltage when a cell is fully charged?

Just started looking at LiPo batteries. Thanks for the video!

I've been waiting ages for some new content. Gotta get ma fix.

This would have been handy 2 days ago, but in the end I followed a similar (but more conservative) approach :)

Wow! It's so simple! That's exciting. Thanks!

We were talking about this in my Facebook group just today. Most awesome. Thanks!

I usually only go up to 4.0V. The extra safety margin is worth the maybe 10% loss in capacity, IMO.

Nice tutorials like always. Hey Afro, I have a suggestion. Can you possibly do a tutorial about Balance chargers for lithium ion or lithium polymer batteries sometime? I have been trying to learn as much as possible about them.

Like always, great video! You presented what a LiPo charger does more or less. How precise voltage do you have to provide to safely charge a LiPo battery?

Wow, That's really great. This should be one of the first videos recommended when it comes to power supplies. So I need currant limiting circuit with read outs, and an adjustable fine tuning voltage output circuit. Good, this will be fun. For the kind of projects I'm anticipating, must have additions.
That's a great power supply you used in the video. Make, model? I wouldn't mind having one of those. I bet you have a home made power supply that you still use, I'd like to see that as well.
Here is a question, let say one attempts to charge this same battery with 3V. and the currant is same, and or slightly less? Will you safely get the battery charged?

Everyone: 4.2 for safety

Afroman: I short out caps and am crazy so im doing 4.21 like arnold Shwarznegger

AWESOME video. Very valuable info condensed in less than 2 minutes. I figured this out the hard way, by experimenting and observing my bench top transformer when charging a car battery. I wish I had come across this video before. Charging a battery is like pumping air in a car tire, as air pressure (Voltage) builds up inside the tire, the rate of air flow (Amperes) slows down because the pump is struggling harder trying to push air inside the tire that's almost "full" due to accumulating air pressure in the tire.

How does the power supply know to switch between constant current and constant voltage mode?

Hi, great Video! What about those Multi Cell Lipo Packs with a balancer conenctor? How do I charge these?
