Funny thing, I watched, cooked and ate some Japanese dishes, but for the first time I see burdock. Here in Europe it's considered to be a weed, mostly. Burdock oil is good for hair. Parts of plants are known as folk medicine and some wild herb books do mention you can eat the root or prepare young stalks like asparagus, but I never actually saw it here to be eaten and as I dug up a root and cooked it, well, I guess it was old, because it was woody and not that nice. 😅 And even young stalks were pretty stringy and tasted very grassy. Seeing it being used so casually makes me kinda happy. Maybe I'll give it a second try, look for young roots and cook them or will make the salad. 👀

Can you please make a video about side dishes that also could count as a meal when paired with rice alone ? Like the third and fourth side dish in this video, they could easily be the main source of protein in a meal yet are so simple and you could make two of them and add them in a bento for variety
