Im a former Jehovahs Witness. I was talking to God last night explaining that my objections to Catholicism are the papacy (which I’m researching) and Mary. Then today I get on my YouTube and this pops up. To say I feel like the Lord is reaching out to me is an understatement.

I was “borned” into the Swedish Lutheran state church. When I was sixteen, I came into contact with the Church. My way in, was Mary. Her simple yes to God that changed the history was the image I would strive to live by.
Thanks for making great content!

Thank you for this peaceful and respectful discussion! I am learning so much as a protestant about what Catholics actually believe and I am so impressed with how the beliefs are thought through and the perspective on scripture and symbolism! I feel like I'm being given glasses to see a different perspective on reading the bible, what church is, and what certain passages mean. I have so much more respect and understanding of the Catholic faith. Thank you!

As a regular Protestant listener who is not seeking to convert I would like to say that your testimony and many Catholics both online and in-person have demonstrated that the Catholic Church has such a powerful handle on the work of the Holy Spirit and so many ‘living’ Churches and many of our Protestant churches that are dead and dying and prostrating themselves before the secular world I yearn to worship where the Holy Spirit is honored and where God is worshipped sincerely. Prot/Cath..labels. The Children of God…those are the folks I want to listen to and talk to and spend eternity with. Thank you for the work you’re doing.

Excellent episode!
As a recent convert to Catholicism, I initially made attempts to energetically defend the Catholic position of Sacred Scripture. However, I quickly saw the greater need was to evangelize my new Catholic friends to get into Mass every Sunday and dig into their faith that they typically took for granted. After some time, I realized the call I received from our Lord was to grow in love for Him and His mother. Now all I want to do is be in Mass every day and receive the Holy Presence of our Lord in the Sacraments and grow in my diligence in regular confession.
Amen Matt Fradd! Keep going brother! Amazing episode. Thank you so much for the work you are doing. God Bless you!

I come from a family that has been very anti-Catholic from my earliest memories. I was raised in the Lutheran church, and as I grew I expanded my scope looking for something that made total sense to me. It was actually a discussion with my father, who as mentioned is very anti-Catholic, that got me looking into why the Deutero-canonical books were removed from the Bible that lead me to the last few weeks of research, and I had already decided on converting to Catholocism before finding this video, but like many Mary was a sticking point for me and I am so grateful that you had this episode. God bless, and by the way I could listen to all three of you talk anytime. All very soothing, articulate voices that I appreciated.

I was just musing on this phrase in light of my own struggles with Mary.

"As God willed to humble himself in Mary through Christ, so does wish to humble you in Christ through Mary."

When I struggled with Mary as the teenage son of a devout Catholic mother and a Reformed Presbyterian Minister father, I would argue with my dear mother constantly, repeating the flat objections my father raised. Eventually, she said in exasperation, "Have you ever considered that maybe God wants it this way?" She stopped my rambling dead, for I realized that I was so obsessed with sussing out what I could perceive as true and honoring God in the way I deemed proper that I failed to listen faithfully. I have not had issue with Mary since, save some frustration that, as was discussed in this interview, we let our reverence for Mary be a foremost stumbling block for our Protestant brothers and sisters. However, in light of what I have just shared, perhaps Mary is the most appropriate introductory issue for a Protestant, generally, since to accept her is to be humbled and to submit oneself to being taught not just by Christ but also his Church.

I've pondered about the importance of names in the Bible. It seems that those who played major roles in God's plan of salvation were given name changes (Abram-Abraham, Jacob-Israel, Simon-Peter, etc.) that corresponded with their callings. I think it's significant that while hanging from the cross, Jesus calls Mary "Woman" (see John 19:25) rather than "Mary", "Mother" (or "Mama", "Mom", etc.). Adam's first name for his helper/companion was "Woman" (Gen.2:23) but after she sinned, he changed her name to "Eve" (Gen.3:20). So it seems to me that Our Lord is referring to Mary by a more meaningful name - the first name ever given to a woman BEFORE sin entered the world. It seems that Jesus is telling us that He sees her as in the same state as Eve was BEFORE she sinned - immaculate. How am I wrong?

You know what’s weird? Some people have difficulty praying to Mary after first entering the Catholic church. Especially after being non-Catholic Christians all their lives. I get that. I didn’t have issues praying to Mary at all. I was asking her to intercede with God for me from day one. But as a former atheist who had just come to terms with having had an intense experience meeting God and having the Holy Spirit dumped on me. I had and incredibly difficult time praying to Jesus… The concept of Jesus as God was really foreign to me. The saints I could deal with, and Mary was another saint in my eyes. Jesus took time for me to fully embrace. I’d almost never even said the name in my entire life. While I knew a few Marys and had used the word God many times in discussions against religion.
So, in effect I was a Christian who couldn’t pray to Jesus, but could pray to His mother 😂 I’m very happy to say I’ve by now fully embraced the Lord Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and pray to Him all day long! He’s in my mind constantly, I’m even telling Him jokes sometimes when I notice myself having a little sinful thought or falling back to errant behaviours from before my Salvation. He’s becoming my best friend 🙏❤ God bless, this conversation was amazing!

I'm a protestant and have loved learning about catholicism through the show. I've also been learning about eastern orthodoxy.
Yesterday I was praying and asking God about how I should view Mary, since my protestant and more Calvinistic upbringing make me wary of what can look like Mary worship and some teaching might feel "extra-biblical". How timely that you've released this! I'm looking forward to watching!

As a protestant, I will say that it bothers me greatly when some evangelicals refer to Mary as "just a vessel" or that she was not blessed above other woman or that she had found great favor.

I do not agree with the Marian dogmas or Marian devotion, but she is certainly deserving of immense respect that others are not.

Thank you so much Matt for producing content like this! It has been priceless in my journey home to Rome 🙏🏼⛪️✝️ Having been raised Protestant and specifically Assembly of God, we never were taught about Mary and her roll in our Christian history and faith. Pray for me as I go through RCIA and study our Catholic faith

Not gonna lie my friends, when I prayed the Rosary/ Sacred heart daily, I noticed I was much more resistant to temptation, and my spirit oft found rest in petitioning our Mother in times of distress. I look back now and regret letting go of her. Pray for me?

Grew up Protestant and attended public schools… I literally never heard the Catholic perspective until I attended RCIA… I went into my Catholic journey thinking the Immaculate Conception referred to Christ’s conception 🤦‍♂️🤣

Educate the public we have been heavily propagandized. 🙏

“And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth WAS FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. THEN, she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!”- Luke 1:41-42

We have to take what the Holy Spirit inspires people to speak into consideration- especially if it’s in the Bible.
