In this short video, we’re going to talk about the cause of night blindness. I believe the cause of night blindness may be a classic vitamin A deficiency. Vitamin A sensitizes the cells of the eyes to respond to light. Without vitamin A, you may not get light in the eye, making it hard to see at night.

The active form of vitamin A is called retinol. Retinol is mainly in animal products. Only a very small percentage of the pre-vitamin A in vegetables converts into retinol.

Sources of vitamin A:
• Fish oil (extra virgin)
• Grass-fed animal proteins
• Egg yolks
• Dairy

If you’ve been consuming more vitamin A and you do not see a difference, you may have an issue with the gallbladder. The gallbladder releases bile. Bile helps break down fats and helps you absorb fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin A.

Without bile, you may not absorb vitamin A. This could especially be an issue if you’ve had your gallbladder removed. You may need to take bile salts or something to help support the gallbladder.

My mom had her gallbladder removed and now suffers from poor vision at night. Sounds like bile salts are in her future. Very interesting. I love your videos!

I see perfectly well at night until I'm blinded by bright lights. I seem to be over sensitive to artificial light at night. Any Idea what is causing this?

Also check if you’re deficient in zinc. Zinc is needed to absorb vitamin A. So you can be taking vitamin A and not seeing results at all if you’re deficient in zinc.

At night, I have a very hard time distinguishing objects and seeing in front of me. A bright light can blind me for 10 seconds or so. Also, my visual field is really reduced. In the day, I have a hard time distinguishing anything unless it's directly in front of me. Everything on left and right is deformed or "quirky". What could that be? I know I have astigmatism in both eyes and myopia in only one. Also sunglasses completely blind me and reduce my acuity.

@DrEricBergDC Is it possible to have Eye Problems from being Vegetarian for YEARS (I've been Keto/Carnivore for 5 years now), and to repair the Eyes with Supplementation? Also, what doses would you recommend for Vitamin A Daily? Thank you!
