In this short video, we’re going to talk about the cause of night blindness. I believe the cause of night blindness may be a classic vitamin A deficiency. Vitamin A sensitizes the cells of the eyes to respond to light. Without vitamin A, you may not get light in the eye, making it hard to see at night.
The active form of vitamin A is called retinol. Retinol is mainly in animal products. Only a very small percentage of the pre-vitamin A in vegetables converts into retinol.
Sources of vitamin A:
• Fish oil (extra virgin)
• Grass-fed animal proteins
• Egg yolks
• Dairy
If you’ve been consuming more vitamin A and you do not see a difference, you may have an issue with the gallbladder. The gallbladder releases bile. Bile helps break down fats and helps you absorb fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin A.
Without bile, you may not absorb vitamin A. This could especially be an issue if you’ve had your gallbladder removed. You may need to take bile salts or something to help support the gallbladder.
