Some people don't understand how hard it is being a teacher 🥺 It's a very emotional job. You deal with different students from different backgrounds. Some days you leave school with a smile and some days with tears in your eyes 😢 But the best part is seeing your students make something out of themselves and deep down in your heart you say to yourself "you did it" ❤️

Hi there. I'm an educator in Durban, South Africa, and I teach Life Orientation to High School Girls from grade 8 to grade 12. During our lockdown our school was able to keep teaching our students through google classroom and zoom and I know how privileged we were to be able to do that. With so many other poorer schools who don't even have electricity and any kind of proper infrastructure for the teachers to teach their students. Most of their classes are 40 to 80 children in one class. I was really able to bring up important life issues in my lessons on zoom to show my girls that they must never take their education for granted. They must never come with an attitude of being entitled just because of their financial standing. This lockdown has been awful, but it's also been incredible, as I can see how my girls are really taking notice of what is going on in our country. They are finally aware of how fortunate they are in comparison to so many other students. And I have made a point of posting one of your motivational clips every day for each of my grades on google classroom and on our teachers' WhatsApp group and I want to say thank you for being real, for speaking the truth, for using your words to build, cos words have power and your words are very powerful.
