Just letting you know Jeremy, we as after school educators, appreciate you! We wonder every day if you are okay. Those children that are with us become part of us and we love to hear back from them. Not only to know if they are safe and well, but to see what they accomplished and we know instinctively that they have done something amazing!

Bro this will just motivate teachers to jump out of the window...you get to discuss whether or not your teacher should make "sacrifices" AFTER you make sure they are paid enough for food, housing, and healthcare (they aren't).

I realize this was recorded 4 years ago, but we were made to watch this in a faculty meeting on Friday (1/6/23). The first 2.5 minutes of this video was good. But sir, you as a motivational speaker must STOP telling teachers to SACRIFICE themselves for a profession that doesn’t care about their well being. Yes the students matter, that’s why we do it. But this same toxic positivity is why teachers are stressed out and leaving in droves. Put that same energy into telling administrators to focus on keeping your teachers happy and healthy and you will see student performance (and STUDENT well being) improve.

Teaching is MORE-there is always more to do, always more to learn, always more to change. Unfortunately, most any professional development comes from the standpoint of a deficiency. Teachers are deficient because they aren't doing enough, learning enough, or changing enough. How much more powerful would it be to start with gratitude and praise? Most of us know we can be better at our jobs. Heck, everyone tells us so-admin, politicians, parents, students-mostly, teachers are the poster children for Imposter Syndrome. More than half give in to all of that and leave. People tell them to, so they do. It is refreshing to hear a voice in the wilderness who speaks nurturing and life to the profession. Thank you.

Motivating, but have never needed motivation, I love what I do. The issue is respect from administrators. The other issue is money…way underpaid for the responsibility to mentally, spirituality, intellectually educate a crammed classroom full of children with varying levels and abilities. No one is saying it, but the level of responsibility and “sacrifice”and the unspoken punitive measures administration can lay on teachers is a form of professional bullying because they know we need to be able to live, pay bills, take care of our families, and have healthcare (coverage is really crap!)

I want to teach elementary students, and maybe one day, live in Japan for a year or 2 to teach kids there just to experience. It seems far fetched, but it would be a dream come true.
