Just the fact that you stopped and said “that word is always challenging to say” instead of just fumbling on is indicative of so much self confidence and awareness. Good stuff

If it wasn't for those tags on the backs of shirts, and the hum of fluorescent lights, we'd rule this planet.

And when you spend your entire childhood undiagnosed, people just refuse to develop a shred of empathy and understanding that maybe, just maybe, you truly cannot "just ignore it, " like the other kids can.

Sensory overwhelm is 100% the most challenging part of autism for me, makes almost everything I want to do much more difficult!

Too cold, too hot, insects, physical pain is unbearable. Lawn mowers, traffic, blowers, fans, kids crying, spicy food, fingernails uneven...

A fire alarm went off in my apartment building at 4am last week, it took at least 3 days to mostly recover. I sporeciate your posts- thanks!❤

😮This is so interesting when the 🔥 🚨 go off in my building I tend to panic a lot and I know my dog can pick up on energy so I try to tone it down. It’s just the sensory overload from the sounds hurts my ears so bad

Have you experienced feeling more intensely overwhelmed after you’ve entered a deeply relaxed, creative state, only to be startled out of it by a noise/vibration that upset you? That happened to me, today, and I ended up feeling nauseated, overwhelmed, and sickly (headache, nervous system screaming). It derailed my morning & led to negative self-talk (what if I’d not run late and written sooner or gone on a walk, now I’m behind schedule, etc.)

I think that it's like some part of the sensory input just doesn't go where It needs to go and is instead perceived as confusing noise

It sounds like a dream that one can get diagnosed for autism. Also I have ADHD. There are overlaps with these two diagnosis.

How about dealing with a toxic house mate.

That why I don't like the school system. Always what's to suspend our children out of school.
