Sounds, so, so many sounds. Glass cups or plates on marble or glass, turn signals, people eating when I'm not also eating, anyone sucking on any kind of coughdrop or candy in the world, high pitched fans or stovetop vents that continue for more than a couple minutes, people cracking their knuckles, someone tapping their pen or their shoe, the sound of my own (hard) shoe heels against a hard floor, the unbearable crinkling of chip bags, someone chopping vegetables who isn't using their knife correctly, it just... goes on. Overhead lights are always a problem, white-blue lights and fluorescent lights as well, and those crazy bright headlights in trucks and SUV's now, and bright white flashes of screen on tv, a white or light gray sky, a sunny snowy day. The sensation of a piece of steak fat or any other similar kind of fat in my mouth is the end of that meal. Ugh. Why am I this way.

On my way to being diagnosed, for me it's more about smells and taste. If I smell burned meat or some perfumes or chemicals, I need to get out of the room, it can get so bad I get nausea, vomiting, I get really really dizzy 😵

Mine is loud noises. School used to stress me out a lot. Especially the hallways so I would try to sneak into class early and get into trouble. Id be forced to sit outside until class starts and get severely overwhelmed by the noise where I can’t hear anything at all. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I got extremely excited when my plant biology teacher let me work in a quiet greenhouse. In between class, i was in heaven. 🤩

Dude I I smell everything, and I hear s*** from distances that don't make sense and people think I'm taking the piss until we verify and then they look at me like I just asked them to take me to their leader

Mine is like- those halographic things that when you move them the picture changes and they usually come on McDonald’s cups and backpacks, y’know? The feeling and sound of it being scratched- omfg I will literally implode

To be fair, even non-autistics have those types of sensory issues, like nails on a chalk board. I have an old non-autistic friend who hated nails on jeans or any rough materials. I'm an Aspie, my skin is over sensitive in general.

Shopping carts rolling on old or low-quality pavement (chaotic sounds) hurts. But I can listen to loud engine (organized sounds) due to their firing ORDER, it's not random chaotic noises.

That face you made thinking about the bristles is my exact reaction to wooden popsicle sticks. I can’t finish a popsicle because the feeling/sound of licking the stick gets stuck in my head, and I have such a hard time making it go away; my skin prickles just thinking about it.

Glases that were just dried after being in the dish washer. Just the thought alone sends shivers down my spine

I cannot stand certain frequencies like squeaking wheels or silverware hitting ceramic or metal plates but I can “tolerate” being in a restaurant 🤣

The kind of towels that stick to your fingers. Screaming, crying, throwing up.

Magazine paper (that shiny stuff), ew, it makes my skin crawl.
And drinking glasses that has an old faded print that's gotten all chalky.
I literally can't touch either one of these. It's actually painful to me.
I have the same with certain noises too, like someone scraping sth out of a metal pot with a metal spoon. Metal on metal craving is awful.

There are certain textures that I absolutely hate.

Believe it or not I am afraid of balloons. The loud pop turns on my flight or fight response. I wear glasses for seeing long distances and I tend not to wear them because everything is too loud. So I wear them when it's calm or if I half to. I hate the sound of glassware. Breaking and clinking glasses together makes me panic. But I love the sound of glassware music. Weird I know.

Anyone have the opposite? Myself and my mother get really interested in certain sounds. I love the sound when someone is craving wood with a sharp chisel, for instance.

I’m not diagnosed but this is one of my biggest, someone else brushing their teeth or sweeping on concrete with a bristled broom. If I hear either of those I’m gritting my teeth and scrunching up my face, my skin goes cold and I just want to block out the sound.

I have a whole list of sensory issues 😭 I hate toothbrush bristles too but when you accidently bite them when brushing your teeth and my ultimate worst is WET WOOL 😭😭😭🤮🤮🤮 I can't touch it, I have to hold another item of clothing to get any woolen items out of the washing machine! Urgh it makes my teeth hurt just thinking about it 😭😭😭😭😭 I have so many more too 😫
