In most states you need an appointment for the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). I would go ahead and make the appointment prior to moving so you already have it set up once you get there. So 30-60 days prior to moving look for your appointment. Same with Utilities, Water, Internet and Cable. Also if you need a PO Box if you are in between housing.

Also things to add to a tub for when you first get there- bath towels, bed sheets, basic toiletries, paper plates, plastic utensils.

For the parts box. Bar soap and a plastic shower curtain with rings.

Parts Box 📦 (Parts & Tools). Yes, a great idea.
Please use a separate box for your cleaners, and the TP 🧻 and Paper towels 🧻 (apparently there’s no emoji for PT). You don’t want to end up using your dry items while they’re in the box, if the cleaners leak.
Putting cleaners in a big, thick trash bag helps too.

I’m 21 and about to graduate from college and im realizing I can’t keep living here in the north. It’s too cold 8 months of the year and I’m cooped up inside all the time depressed and anxious. Every time I vacation in Florida I’m happier than ever. People are rich snots where I’m from in Minnesota and I just need to move away for at least a year and see where life takes me. I’ve got a few grand put aside and I’m talking to a bar in Clearwater Florida to potentially work at and I’m gonna attempt to find an small apartment to live in. I’ve got a few friends that live near Tampa which leads me to my next point. It’s always good to have connections everywhere you go. Just like my buddy told me- “You never wanna jump into a body of water not knowing how deep it is.” Only the wise will understand this ;)

I plan on moving out of state when I retire in 3 years. I am doing my research now. I plan on taking most items I own. I will have a yard sale when I get to my new place. That is how I will get to meet people in my new community. I will pack my items myself.

Great info! One thing to know is that movers in some states will not allow any cleaning products or liquids allowed in their trucks. Your Parts Box will have to go with the people moving.

Does HGTV know about you? You have such a great personality and would be a star there! However, since I'm considering GA, I'm glad you are there! ♥

Thank you! I’m moving next year and I’m terrified. The POD is a great idea, because I don’t have a ton of things that are coming with me.

Never moved but thinking I’d buy a 7x14 box trailer to pull with my truck. That would save me $ on storage and moving. Sell a lot of stuff to collect some of my $ back. Pack myself. When I don’t need the trailer no more sell it. So it’s like I moved for damn near free.

We have to leave Statesboro and move to Huntsville Alabama. This was quite unexpected and we went right into "scrambling mode." Your video was quite unexpected too, but it made us take a deep breath and face this move with a more tempered approach. Your tips were sage advice. Good job.
BTW we moved to this little town, about an hour west of Savannah, and loved it. We did not want to leave.
