Hi there! Thank you so much for these videos, they are so helpful! I am 18, almost 19 years old and I was just diagnosed with SPD. It’s something I really struggle with on a daily basis, especially with shutdowns. I often can hold myself back from having meltdowns because of how ashamed I am of them but I can still have them. But my question for you is how would you recommend coping with shutdowns, when you aren’t necessarily able to get out of the situation? I have some techniques I use like chewing my own food or gum to drown out the noise or pushing my fingernails up against itself or a pencil for the tenseness. I also have noise canceling headphones that I can use but often times I still need to communicate with others and it would be weird if I were to just put them on. Other than that I just don’t know how to cope with it on a daily basis without always feeling like I have to hold myself back from having a meltdown.
