"nobody looks at somebody else's angsty teenager and says I want one of those unless they're a creepy teacher." best comment in the video.

As a large animal vet tech for a mobile veterinarian, we do see alot of pigs as pets and unfortunately, 7 out of 10 shouldn't own them. The owners can't provide the appropriate care, training, or they're overwhelmed. Majority of our pig patients are out of control, aggressive, or has health issues due to bad care because the owners didn't understand how to properly care for them.

I agree, pigs are labeled "just like dogs, " but they are nothing like dogs. You can mostly persuade a dog to do something it doesn't want to do and it will tolerate it...not a pig. They will fight, resist and scream bloody murder. They are very stubborn and don't give in easily.

Another myth breeders tell buyers is about their diet, "feed them less and they stay small like this forever." LIE. I can't tell you how many malnourished pigs I have seen from this lie.

I have a small herd of Potbellies. Gotta tell you. I love them. They really take care of one another. The piglets are reared by aunts uncles and both parents. I have a hobby farm. Mostly rescue critters. Pigs are my fav. Rooting plays a very important role in their health and well being. Love your video. Really informative. Ours have a barn. The joy of watching them build the most incredible nest for one another. At night. They tuck each other in. I understand why anyone would want to share in the close relationship with a pig. Watching them as a herd. Truly is an experience. Although they are not behaving like a pig living with in a family situation. They love to be loved by people. Love when children visit them. Gentler at taking treats. More then the average dog. Can't say enough positive things about pigs. But I am happy I have acre's for running, playing. Love when I am driving down the laneway. My field being graved with pigs. The minute they see the vehicle coming. 15 pigs, full speed run to the house. In case there might be a cookie. Melts my heart. Never get tired of it

My bother got a pet pig. Guess who has two thumbs and ended up taking care of it. Yep this guy. Very social and much smarter than any pet I ever had. I loved him but gus kept getting out in our backyard to run with a pack of dogs on our street. He was not easy to take care of and become very demanding for attention. Also he seemed so darn sad all the time in our back yard. He was supposedly to a mini pig but he was huge. Thankful he in his forever farm. He befriended a donkey and he follows it everywhere. He seems so much happier. Like it was so hard giving him up but I loved him so much. It was better to rehome him last year than wait till I go off to college.

”Nobody has ever looked at Gilly in her full-grown state and been like ’wow I want one of those.” Hello, here’s me looking at Gilly, wanting one of those.

As a mini pig owner, this is GREAT! :D So much truth!!! My boy is 5 years old, WAY bigger than Gillie (150lbs!!) but walks on a leash like a dog and going on walks and meeting people in the street. :) FYI: pigs grind their teeth when they are HAPPY! :D So the grinding Luna was doing meant she was happy being around you!

I Know someone that had two "mini Pigs" in a dog crate in their garage. They were also under the impression that a mini pig is meant to be fed a "tablespoon of food a day to keep it small"

Thank you for sharing. People need to be educated on things like this.

I love how he openly talks about how bad pigs are while he holds an unassuming pig

I’m impressed how smart they are when it comes to getting what they want.

Getting a pig is like deciding to go to law school. If someone can talk you out of it, you weren’t cut out for it.

I find it funny that literally everybody that owns a pig says “never own a I have two and I say the same 😆

"pigs don't like to fly"
That's the stupid phrase my brain has decided to get stuck on all week.

Veterinarian quote, "Never ascult (listen to chest with a stethoscope) a pig. Because if it squeals you'll go deaf."

My interest in owning a mini-pig as ended as fast as it started, lol. Thank you for bringing me back to reality. I'm fine with the end-size of the pig, but I didn't think about their rooting and didn't know about them being difficult to train.

As a pig owner, I completely agree! When people ask me if they should get a pig I pretty much tell them no. I have a 160lbs pot belly 😍 I love her to death but I don't think most of my friends would be able to handle her. I found out the hard way that pigs and carpet don't mix well. I'm currently in the search of a bigger home with a much larger yard and also want to get a second pig. Getting rid of her was never an option. I love her too much and she is too spoiled! 🥰

This was very helpful. I live with my daughter(adult) and she and her husband got two young pigs. They have grown much larger now(but they have a wonderful huge yard to play in(we have 5 acres). Then we took in two rescue pigs, but they looked like they were only about 6 months old, and small. Well the male got all three females pregnant, and I got to deliver 20 little piglets in about 3 hours time, as the two older females gave birth on the same day, one right after the other. What an experience! There was one tiny runt who we tried to bottle feed but hold cow that pig would squeal just picking it up! Finally put it back out with mama and it's been about a week and a half and he still fighting for his share of the milk ( and looking stronger!). They are just so cute, but now we have 24 pigs, and the third female should be giving birth anyway now.

i am not planning on getting a pig, wanting one or even want a pig as a pet in general but i highly appreciate this video as a responsible warning on people impulse buying pets just because they're cute. i hope these kinds of videos are made for common pets like dogs and cats too because there's too many people getting them but they end up abandoned which is really sad
