Animal rescuers use Dawn because Dawn gives it to them, writes it off as charity, and then makes commercials about it. It's not like Greenpeace is carefully opting for the Dawn over any other product, just filling up baskets with nods of self-assured approval down at Walmart. It's a fine product, I'm sure, but don't make it about anything other than a tax write-off at sticker price (not cost, btw) and a pr stunt.

When my children were babies my mom taught me to keep a Rubbermaid bin full of water and detergent on top of the dryer. As the kids messed up it clothes they went in the bin. At the end of the day the whole bin got dumped into my top load washer.

Do NOT put the shirt in the dryer until you’re 100% sure the grease stain is gone or you’ll be setting the stain and then god help you!

My two tricks, but I wish there was a trick for grease stains that I discover AFTER I dry my clothes.

I typically use a paste made from baking soda and dawn dish liquid. Let it sit on the stain for ten minutes throw it in the wash and you’re done.

You can also use baby powder if you don't have time to wash it. Put it on the spot right away.

Listen people, DO NOT put your clothes in hot water, the heat might set your grease stain. It might also shrink your clothing depending on the material. I shrunk a blouse made it of viscose 😢

I use Zout. It even took out set in pink lipstick on a cotton cardigan.

Goop - mechanics waterless hand cleaner is a miracle on any oil based stain. I have also had great results with removing tomato based stains. It's just the best and with ONE use!

Don't spend money on oxy. Use baking soda instead. Lightly scrub the oil stain with the paste and a soft bristle scrub brush. Wash as recommended... stain gone.

Easier to put any dish detergent on the fabric, sprinkle with any laundry soda and rub stain. Wash in machine with hot water. works like magic, no soaking needed.

Best thing which is also found in the kitchen, Corn Starch, put some on the stain enough to cover the whole stain area. Let it sit awhile and then wash as normal. Dry in drier repeat if necessary even after drying this will work. Sometimes you might need to leave overnight then wash and dry.

I called DAWN because I didn't see a rabbit symbol on the bottle. Nor was there a CRUELTY FREE slogan. I kept persisting for the TRUTH. The person I spoke with admitted "Yes we test on LIVE ANIMALS".
