BMW is not new to the world of electric cars, but the 2022 iX is its first new, from the ground up, electric SUV. There's steep competition coming from Audi, Mercedes, Polestar, and of course, Tesla. So, can the 2022 BMW iX xDrive50 compete? Dave Undercoffler takes one for a test drive to find out.

I like it... don't forget about the Rivian R1S that is on the road... kinda. The rivian seats 7 and van off road for under 100k. Pre order holders pre March 2022 it's under 80k.

I assume BMW, like Tesla, has an audible feature- in which you are able to ‘ask’ the computer to perform tasks for you…so you could adjust the fan speed without fumbling with the screen menus..

At 2:54 "21 inch is 305 miles range and 22 inch wheels is 315"? Is that backwards? Love the look of the car, interior walnut trim of luxe package not so much. Seems retro not the future. Likewise, the black banding that wraps around the rear quarter panel to the rear is truly IMHO very fugly.. Good review thanks.

Am I silly for wanting the Audi Q4 e tron because it has an actual opening sunroof and a few "analog" buttons to push and turn still? BMW is turning out some pretty evs though. I especially like the 4 series.

I am the owner of one iX 50 and I would call it just breaking. The car keeps breaking and braking and breaking. the last one? couple of days ago the car started itself and crashed in font of the car in front.The sad part is that neither BMW nor the dealership have done anything to resolve the problem. I would say that if the car maker is interested in building a good service or reputation (but at this point I would just call it service) would offer to take the car back or give me a new one. NOTHING OF THAT KIND AS HAPPENED

Open trunk two places, hold the trunk with your hand while checking faults is a no no for me. It makes no sense

That’s not mineral white buddie… your test vehicle is actually “Alpine White” also the ix comes standard with air suspension. The additional option you are referring to is the “Dynamic handling package”

I bought BMW IX in October, drove 3 weeks, couple defects happened. BMW told me it’s dangerous to drive again and hold my car for almost two months to fixed. The driving assistant system could kill me if it fails when I use the cruise mode. BMW just suggest me don’t use the cruise mode which I have paid.
Garbage products control and customer service, very regret buying BMW.

If BMW electrifies the G05 X5 and call it the iX5 (like they did with the X3), that's the one I'll actually buy. The looks of this iX are too....erm, challenging for me. This car has completely failed to excite me, despite having already driven it a couple of times now. Those looks will never grow on me. Ever. Which is a shame really, because I would kill for that interior. The BMW iX has THE best interior of any luxury electric SUV to date.

Why does it have to look like dog feed? And you didn’t mention how your rear seating posture was rather low with no under thigh support and legs raised up. That’s the kind of seats you get in the 3rd row of SUVs. What a pathetic attempt by BMW. Elegance, design sacrificed at the altar of ‘futurism’. Hard pass.
