This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new, all-electric 2022 BMW iX SUV. Move over Tesla Model X, there’s a new kid in town, the iX, BMW’s fully electric sports activity vehicle and it doesn’t disappoint. We have the BMW xDrive50 model with 516 horsepower and 564 lb-ft of torque, 521 km/324 miles of range and standard AWD. There’s also the M60 with 610 horsepower and 811 lb-ft of torque, up to 450 km/280 km of EV range, standard AWD. In Canada, there is one more model available, the base xDrive40 with 322 horsepower and up to 322 km of range, standard AWD. The BMW iX offers a unique design with a grille that is large and in charge, some will like it, some won’t. It has a futuristic style with slim LED headlights, these are the narrowest twin headlights ever produced by BMW for a standard production vehicle. The flush door handles and frameless doors give the iX a modern design and the slim lights carry over to the rear with the narrowest taillights, an integrated tailgate and different wheels sizes, 20”, 21” and 22” which our test model has. BMW says, the iX interior is a unique place to unwind with an architecture inspired by modern and simplistic interior design. The flat dashboard with the curved screens and slim seats are supposed to resemble pieces of furniture. The floating centre console leaves plenty of room for storage and the panoramic glass roof is the largest ever installed by BMW. The new screens merge together creating a seamless look with a 12.3” digital driver display and a 14.9” touchscreen, which is also controlled by the centre console dial. Our test model has the cloth stone grey interior, which is available for $1,500 CAD, the glass dial walnut centre console for $850 CAD and the blue seatbelts for $300 CAD. The real standout is the available 38-speaker Bowers and Wilkins audio system for $4,300 CAD/$3,400 USD. It has an absolutely incredible sound, mind-blowing. The BMW iX xDrive40 starts at $79,990 CAD, xDrive50 $89,990 CAD/$83,200 USD and the M60 $121,750 CAD/$105,100 USD. Price as tested: $113,285 CAD.

I think those seats prove that everything old eventually comes back in style. :)

“But you know Andrea, that brings up a good point. WHAT’S WRONG WITH ALL THE STUFF THAT WORKS?!” 😂 13:33

You bring the entertainment of your reviews to another level by going off topic, making jokes and having so much fun! We need that type of content more than ever! Thanks again!

I finally realized why I like your channel so much. Your first priority are the reviews. Too many channels are focused on the hosts' personality first; the actual review seems to be an afterthought. You guys keep that to a minimum and just.review.vehicles. I appreciate that.

The exterior styling is one that we’ll eventually grow on you, but the interior and the BMW handling dynamics more than makes up for it. Thanks for another great review! Love your channel.

The front-end to me looks like the Punisher mask

Good point about battery size and resource allocation. Full EVs with huge batteries and mega performance are not exactly “green” - which is fine if one has the means and intent to purchase excess. However, the government should not incentivize that option with public funds.

The interior and performance are inpressive but the outside looks so weird.

Thanks for the review! I ordered a fully loaded iX 50 back in February. I don’t own any gas cars, me and my wife have been daily driving our Chevrolet Bolt Evs for 4 years. This BMW should serve us well as a 3rd car for outings.

I had a Rav4 hybrid as a rental last week and got 40mpg in mixed suburban/highway driving. We own a NX made on the same platform and the difference was surprisingly wide. The Rav felt more like a truck with bumps unsettling the chassis and much more road noise. However, we only get 26.5 mpg over all with the non-hybrid NX.

Did you know that the slim LED headlights are the slimmest BMW has ever put in a production vehicle?! So many 💎 in this video. You all really have outdone yourselves with this review.

Another fun fact: you two are truly awesome together, and I love it when you have little comments about your family, like your son's climate change assignment, and "what say you, mom/dad?" 😅

I decided to buy the M60 over the Tesla Model X because of the fit and finish of the interior. The test drive sold me, immediately. However, your quip about the battery/ies is exactly right; this is lunacy. I wish it were a hybrid. This is the first time I've run across your channel, but that comment, alone, made me subscribe. Finally, common sense instead of blind fanaticism.

The better option is the ixdrive 40
89 000 and no crystal in the cabin.
Less weight with the 77kw/h battery and more fuel efficient. Looks very good in black and white.
You should review it this fall!

16:36 very valid point! Way more hybrids vs 1 EV, if only there was gov incentive on regular hybrids as well.

"Can't fix ugly" that's for sure. Why? Why would one of the greatest car companies of automotive history decided to create fugly looking cars? One may never know.
