I had a lot of fun with this one back in the day, both on the N64 and PC. I wonder why the PC port never got a digital rereleased on GOG and Steam?

My brother got stuck on the final level. He couldn’t find the shield generator until he looked it up in the Phantom Menace cross section book.

One thing I really love about this game is in the movie, we only get to hear about the suffering of the people of Naboo happening off screen as the Trade Federation are taking control of the planet, here, we actually get to see it happening, it really feels immersive

Was a kid at the time and my dad rented it for me from Blockbuster. Never got a chance to finish it but I remember “police” version of the Naboo Starfighter having really cool sounding laser cannons

It's rather bothersome that there is no steam/gog release of this game, or let alone the later Rogue Squadron games on modern hardware/PC releases. (Or even Jedi Starfighter.)

Oh my childhood. Interesting cause you get the smaller battles even if it isn’t non cannon story.

Believe it or not, I still have my copy (with rogue squadron 3D) of the PC version back in the day. It was less memorable than RS3D for sure, but I loved the game back then because I could finally play all these new vehicles from the movie like the AAT. It's a fun game, I think they just didn't have the time to make it as good as the first one because they were already working on Rogue Leader.
I wish nightdive studio will be able to remaster all the Star Wars factor 5 games because they are really worth it and sadly forgotten overall.

I wish they'd port these games to the Switch.

Dude, I just subscribed to your channel & you hit me with this one?! My testicles can’t handle this! Thank you for reviewing a game so dear to my heart that I want a port right now! Keep up the fantastic work!

I relate to the inability to place memories and experiences you feel compelled you've had and whatnot.

Similarly, I've got some memories I'm unable to tie context to. Unanswered questions.
It saddens me, but I feel they'll be give-up matters as everyone dies around me. 🤣

I played this years after the fact and had a blast with it. I recently came across a Maul-centered short story called "Endgame", which actually references some of the events of this game! I was beyond excited, because I always loved it when other Legends materials referenced the video games. :)

I have a vague memory of renting this game once or twice from the local video store back in the day, great video! :)

The opening level, Escape from Theed, is both the easiest and hardest level in the game. Pretty easy to just win. But getting the Platinum Medal??? It took me 12 hours of failed playthroughs to pull that one off.

In fact, more than half this game's replay value comes from getting those Platinum Medals. They make Rogue Squadron's Gold Medals a cakewalk by comparison.

What a solid review! The origami looking pilots was the biggest repulsive for many gamers at the time. The game was panned for that

Two things that stick out about this game to me was 1) The blue Naboo starfighter was GOATED! Loved that little ship. 2) The first time I played the self title mission Battle For Naboo I was BLOWN AWAY! At that point in my life I hadn't played the PC X-Wing and Tie Fighter games so my only knowledge of star wars flight sims was Rogue Squadron which had a total of 0 space levels LOL. So it was crazy how "good" it looked. Obviously its smear compared to modern games but back then this was almost like real life!

I think you’re being a bit tough on the graphics here. The 2D-ish character models riding the spacecraft do look pretty rough up close if you run the game in 1080p, but most of the time you’re seeing them from a distance, and at that point it’s much harder to tell. The original N64 release also runs at a far lower resolution, masking it very well, I’ve been playing it recently on a real N64 and I honestly thought the character models looked pretty good, completely unable to tell they’re 2D. Even the PC version, with the resolutions that were common at the time, it would be hard to notice. The green screen issue with the explosions is also likely an emulation issue, N64 emulation (at above native resolution) struggles with edges, giving 2D elements like the explosion sprites a green screen-like look.

Man I remember playing hours on this game on my parents PC. What a game this was! So annoying it's not available on GOG or Steam
