A 4K HDR sample from my Extended Star Wars Episode I Cut, simply titled "The Phantom Menace - Extended Edition". As of today, both cuts have now been updated to a new 2.0 version, featuring several minor tweaks in audio, updates to the HDR color timing (especially for Episode I), tweaks to transitions, and brand new A.I. upscales of many of the deleted scenes. A total of 7 deleted scenes have been restored in the film.

Note: The trimmed down version of the duel of the fates battle is only for the youtube upload. The version scene in the film cut itself won't be intercut in this same way.

Both of my Extended Episode I and II cuts are available in both 4K HDR and 1080p SDR, along with my other edits like the 4.5 hour Revenge of the Sith - The Siege of Mandaore Supercut the, Star Wars Episode IV - The Rogue Cut, and many more!

More aspects of Lucas’s “used universe” that I love: the droids don’t just show up in infinite numbers. They have to be transported, arranged, and then activated. Logistics is so underrepresented in movies, and I’m not saying it’s realistic necessarily, but it’s nice to see.

This is probably the most scary depiction of the battle droids. They just walk through the shield and instantly start shooting, the Gungans are doing their utmost to stop them but the droids just still keep coming straight at them

Droids' formation, activation and marching are actually paradise for perfectionists

It’s weird thinking Jar Jar probably had the highest kill count in that entire battle.

"Activate the droids"
"Yes sir" -accidentally presses the self destruction button.

Fun fact. The sound of the droid tank moving came from sound designer ben burtt running a electric razor though a metal salad bowl

That AAT gun sound is oddly satisfying

When the B1 Droids were actually terrifying. No silly punchlines and childish voice pitches. Cold metal, coming directly at you and start shooting.

You gotta hand it to the Gungan Army, they had balls. They chose to stand and fight and took to the open field against an enemy army which possessed tanks, armored transports, and a far larger force of battle droids. And they did this with nothing but a few shields, and hand-throwable and melee weapons. The droids poured tons of blaster fire at straight-up point blank range and the Gungans held their ground and took them on in hand-to-hand fighting not even Droideka could break them. It took the Trade Federation tanks bull-rushing the Gungan Army to get them to retreat after the shield came down, and they only did so at the orders of their commanders.

Everyone asks "What about the Droid attack on the Wookies?" But noone asks "What about the Droid attack on Naboo?"

4:11 I like the detail where the little droids collect the remains of the battle droids. In the 2008 Clone Wars, the Separatists left the destroyed droids on the planet Iego and after the Dathormir massacre they left it all behind.

1:21 each time I see this and hear the sounds the droids make mixed with the badass soundtrack, I get goosebumps. It’s so well done

2:20 One thing I appreciate about Gungans: They will go fisticuffs with solid metal robots and not give a fuck. "Oh, you got blasters and tanks? This is what we like to call CQB."

24 years later and I finally realized the reason the shield exists:

It's not for the droids. It's anti-ARTILLERY and anti-fighters. I used to think it was really silly they could just walk through it.

Looks like the middle Gungan forgot which button activated the shield and had to look at the guy next to him to see which one.

The sound effects of the tank lasers hitting the shield are still really cool.

One of the rarest yet awesome scenes in starwars hand to hand combat with battle Droids

I forgot how good the sound design of this scene was. The sound of the AAT’s and Droid Carriers coming over the hill is legitimately frightening sounding. And the little details like the “stand clear” alarms as the droids are being off-loaded really ground this into reality.
