It would have been terrible if Top Gun had left empty-handed. I'm glad they gave the award to the wonderful aural work they did here. Every airplane sound, the incredible mix between the score and the ambient sounds, every explosion sound, everything sounded amazing and it was a worthy experience to be seen on the big screen.

This award was deserved and expected for Top Gun: Maverick. But I miss the separate categories of sound editing and sound mixing.

After All Quiet on the Werstern Front winning International Feature Film and Cinematography (which were expected) and also Production Design and Music Score, there was tension in the air to all those who still were that movie contestants. And when Top Gun Maverick sound folks won (the favorite), they probably felt _what a relief!_

This great blockbuster deserves all the awards, and although I would like it to win better editing (although I'm glad it won EEAAO) in which it won best sound, it's cool, because watching it in the cinema or at home feels like you're flying planes and it feels awesome.

This is my second favourite win of the night. I was so worried that this award was going to go to All Quiet on the Western Front given it’s four previous wins. When Kate Hudson said this movie though, I jumped for joy. My favourite movie of 2022 just won an Oscar.

Everything Everywhere All at Once was not nominated in this category was, I must say it, quite understandable; even though the movie deserved to win as sound editing.

Rare case where the sound team got a standing o? I wanted to say the love for this film seemed huge at this event (the cheer it got) but then again it took home only one and even missed out on cinematography which was once a shoe-in (although it picked up a surprising screenplay nod) so idk.
