Concerns, frustration over south Minneapolis encampment

Neighbors and business-owners say they are tired of living next to "chaos."

Make it very difficult to sit around doing nothing. Bulldoze the tent community, confiscate all the junk, arrest anyone with drugs, mandatory work program, daily drug tests, house them in industrial warehouse district, 6 months to stand on their own feet or 6 months in jail. Rinse and repeat

Drugs, alcohol and the mentally ill are not a Minneapolis problem it is world wide. Now what is to be done that is the question. Even Germany has pockets of homeless people, again world wide.

I am so glad that I can't imagine the horrors those homeowners are going through. Imagine some bums stealing your electricity and power, defecating in your yard....

this is simply a hot mess. I feel for some of the folks who are in this encampments, but then I feel for the residents who have to deal with some of the craziness.

This is a choice. Say otherwise but check the history Chem dep, mentally ill, etc. How bout you move these campers out to some state owned land in the middle of nowhere...then these hardy souls can do whatever they want.

When I was homeless, no could see my tent, or me unless I wanted them to.
Safety in numbers, but if your solo you can be stealthy.

I can feel for some of those being homeless. Some have drug issues or alcohol abuse. Some even had bad up bringing. And also you have some of the free loaders looking for free food etc. I was one of them and nearly died out there. I just had bad luck. What woke me up is my family and friends lecturing i was putting myself in grave danger. May they all find those supports. Life does get better!
