If You're Tired of Needing God

Sometimes life brings us down. Difficult situations cause us to become discouraged. This is natural (and inevitable). But there's another kind of discouragement that comes from a sense of "I should be better than this", or, "I thought I was better than that".

Believe it or not, the root of that discouragement is pride—a desire to be strong without God's help.

Today, Fr. Mike breaks down this phenomenon, helps us to recognize it in ourselves, and gives us some tips to let go and draw our strength from God alone.

I so needed this. Last night I watched a tiktok stating that prideful people have a leviathan spirit; that it makes them stiffnecked and consequently these individuals have back and neck problems. I became very defensive, which made me realize that I suffer with this sinful pride (along w the back n neck problems). I asked the Lord to help me identify how I was prideful and lo and behold, less than 24hrs later this video just happens to pop up... why didn't it do so 2 weeks ago? Praise God. I wasn't ready, but I am now. 🎉

Father Mike. I just heard a Jewish Orthodox fellow online Berel Solomon, say, that "when we feel we are buried in deep, dark places, maybe, we arent being buried, but we're being planted!" I hear these words in my heart, because it's when Ive been in such despair, wishing on God in my life, that this, this, is the time, when He comes, in the deepest, darkest moment and I see Him, hugging me, "planting me!" I’m not tired of needing God but I’m ashamed that I’m not always the child I should be for him, considering the breadth of his love for me. I know that’s pride. I will never be good enough but his love won’t waver. I also often get frustrated that the world distracts me from God.
