I can't think of anyone else in CNET that can do a review of this product. In fact, I wish he was the only one in CNET doing product reviews!

I like Dong Ngo & I think he's "HOT". I enjoy his sense of humor on explaining electronics in his reviews. He is Unique enough said...

Awesome, but not quite there. Here's what I want to see, a high capacity HDD or usb stick that has an internal battery that will last at least 24 hours for reading / writing - built in wifi and network drive capability so that I can fill one with music, plug it into my car and be able to sync my music collection at will with the car off, parked in my driveway.

Go!

Irrelevant, get a Ravpower WD03 & you can put a 512gb SD card and a 4TB HDD

*WD My Passport Wireless is running out of power by itself* even you don't use it for months. *Seagate Wireless Plus battery is not running out of power* even many months without using it.

I'm sorry but I have a question, I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4" and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, (I plan on getting the Note 4), Will the drive work with these devices?  Do i need a Wifi connection?  Can my devices read off this drive?  I like the portability of the WD device.   can I take this drive anywhere and my tablet and Note 3 read off of it?  This is the deal breaker for me?  Sorry if I am asking too many questions.  Thank you.

i purchased one of these and got it home, it was DOA out of the box. I returned it all OK and exchanged for a new one.

Got it home, no SSID, and the lights all flash within 30 seconds. The manual says "it is faulty, contact support"

I reset the thing by holding down both buttons for 10 seconds and the same fault is apparent. I try to contact WD support and 5 days has elapsed with no reply to my online query.

WD online community is awash with topics on this device being faulty - both DOA and after a short time. I'm going to return this device and just buy extra SD cards.

save yourself the misery of this unit.

Question. Please answer if you know the answer.  I have this app called Filmic Pro.  The app shoots videos, but my iPhone has limited storage space for when I capture videos.  Would I be able to transfer the footage I just shot with my iPhone to the My Passport Wireless through wi-fi?  Would all I need to do is make sure my iPhone and the Wireless Passport were on the same wi-fi? Can I also simply connect my phone to the wireless passport directly?

Question, could you watch a movie in mp4 or m4v Movie on it and view it on an Apple iPad/iPhone??? if not it does me no good and my Macbook Pro is too important to me to fly with with risk of damage/loss/or theft but I have a trust older ipad Air 2 that has been a solid freaking Tablet but its only a 16gb so after updates and all that garbage and maybe a couple pictures/documents/Apps I am lucky to be able to fit 1 movie off of iTunes to watch on the flight. I can't stand android and i don't need another tablet and im not risking my new specd out iPad Pro while flying for the same reasons as my Macbook Pro. Had stuff stolen and broken in the past and I refuse to take it if I can't afford to lose it.

is there any wireless wifi CCTV (something like dropcam) out there that can use this product as their storage media wireless?

Please address the ease of use for file transfer. I'm frustrated at my iKlips and Ravpower devices.

2TB seems like the best deal. Black Friday should be good time to pick this up.

when you put in the sd card in the device, does it copy or move the files from the card? is it automaticly or is it controlled by a smartphone?
