How To Parry Like A Pro! Super Smash Bros Ultimate

To better understand how parrying works:

Do not hold, only press shield the half second before an attack is about reach your shield that you'll quickly put up in that moment. I like to think that the flash you see in the very first moment of you putting up a shield is where your opponents attack needs to be when you shield so that it'll parry

This was super helpful! I never understood how to parry properly, and I wanted to know how to practice it! I'm already starting to get the hang of it and was using Fox and trying to be as consistent as possible. I need to practice it to where I can quickly shield & release. I was primarily getting used to the timing of when I need to release shield, but I was moving further away, and closer to the CPU so I could get comfortable with the various distances! I play with my friends all the time on this and I do get parry here and there

I've never noticed it was a letting go type instead of a perfect block type

Once I get better at timing they gonna be so mad LOL

The most of my parrys come from me not looking at the screen

Something alot of guides don't seem to mention about this, tho, is u can't input anything out of shield or parrying won't work. Alot of times, I wanna parry and I accidentally input something out of shield cuz' I wanna punish ASAP and then my parry just doesn't work. I've also confirmed this by watching matches in 0.25x speed and it's clear to see that the player has let go of shield within the 5 frame parry window and it didn't work cuz' they inputted something after letting go of shield.

Funny how if you play long enough you gain a super parry power and you just parry everything like nobody’s business without even thinking about it (the 3 pikachus throwing the projectile reminds me of the parry mini game from street fighter3 third strike)

Instead of only releasing the shield, I thought other people said you could also time it a few frames before you got hit? I'm going to investigate today.
