Elden Ring How to Parry

In this Elden Ring how to parry video, I show you how to do this powerful technique and also how to equip the parry skill to shields and certain weapons.

To parry in Elden Ring, you need to equip a shield or weapon with the parry skill on it. Some shields already have the parry skill. If not, you can by the Parry Ash of War and equip it yourself or use a blacksmith.

Once you have the right equipment, you can learn how to parry by practicing as follows. With a shield in your left hand on Xbox / PS press LT / L2 as an enemy swings a weapon at you. A successful parry will stun the opponent. Then you can follow up with RB / R1 to perform a high damage attack.

Learning Elden Ring How to Parry is best done against low level enemies, such as those by gatefront ruins. Note that not all attacks can be parried, but many can. Slower attacks are often easier to parry.

parrying in this game feels extremely off for a souls veteran like me. idk what it is but I feel like many of the enemies like to delay their attacks at random which is very different from dark souls. that and the parry window feels less forgiving.

Most of the time when i try to parry an attack, i just do a parry-block instead, despite having parried that same attack before (which i how i KNOW it's parry-able), so there's clearly something more specific to the timing of parry, and these specifics are what i want to know...

Specifically, what point of the parry animation, has parry-frames? Is it the beginning where you lift your parry arm up? is it the end, where you flick the parry? or is it in between those points where your arm is in position?

The answer to this question is what determines my ability to 100% my parries. :P

And i can't figure it out myself, because my brain is taking in too much information from reading the enemy, i can't focus on my own character, i have to focus on enemy patterns in order to survive. xD

when i parry the enemy just continous his combo... So i get damage for that parry and for his following blows.

Ok I am playing vanguard and my shield has the parry option but everytime I try to parry as in your video I just do the skill move. I'm on PC using keyboard and mouse

Isn’t the left hand armament doesn’t use ash of war? The L2 button is for right hand armament right?

I can parry well on every souls game except this one. The timing is totally different. I am using the buckler too and it just doesn't feel as good as the other souls games. Im still struggling with the parry. Buckler and parry ash of war equipped
