You can hear Lightfoot's style here, yet Campbell makes it his own also. One of my favorite covers ever.

Arrived here after learning about Gordon Lightfoots death. He wrote so many amazing songs, not just for himself but other artists like Glen, whose rendition of this is beautiful. RIP Gord and Glen.

Utterly FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS, from the first listening, decades ago. You will not find it on Glen's typical hit collections. FINALLY I found an album with it. BOUGHT THAT SUCKER! Simply MAGNIFICENT!!! Timeless

I weep every time. Had to say good by to my wife. She had to leave the state for employment in Prescott AZ. The first time after months my son and I finally drove our to see her this song began as we were reunited. The last time I heard this song I was just a young child. Meant nothing than. That day it mesnt everything watching my boy crying in her arms after months without her. And I realized at that moment how empty my life was without her.

No On can Sing this Song like Glenn Could. Rest In Peace Glenn. You Are Truly Missed...as this Song fits. With Someone I knew long ago. In the Summer of 1970. Sigh

It was the summer of 1971, the first young women I had really fallen in love with ended our relationship to return to her first love who wanted her back, ... and got her. I was crushed, I frequently and quietly cried when no one was looking. It took me at least 3 years to get over her. The first time I heard this song I wept. To this day, thoughts of her can stir deep emotions. I listened to and played this song over and over that summer. I don't know where she is or even if she is still alive. But our 8 months together cast in stone how I needed to be loved by someone, and how I would love them. Our time was intense, passionate, sensual, very physically romantic. I've known love, I have loved and been loved, had children, and for short periods of time known love like ours, ... but I have never found the one who would and will love me that way till death would do us part. But I will always be thankful that at least once in my life I was loved as I needed to be loved, .... and for that I can be thankful, ... because many never know that kind of love.

Since I bought the original Gordon Lightfoot LP I have loved this song. It wasn't until a few yrs ago that I discovered this by Glen, it is a beautiful cover as I think only he could have done. Thanks for posting, it's timeless and I still love hearing it by two such great artists.
