In 2012 legendary country singer Glen Campbell was honored with a lifetime Grammy Award, celebrating a career that boasted such hits as "Galveston" and "Rhinstone Cowboy." But the singer, suffering from Alzheimer's, was facing his final tour - a farewell in more ways than one. In 1968 I was in the Marines and Eli was actually sitting on my bucket cleaning my rifle when I heard Glenn Campbell singing Galveston. I had a girlfriend in Pomona California that I was engaged to. I was truly afraid of dying before I would see her again. That song hit me hard because it was talking about me I felt. I was seriously wounded but survived. The Marines gave me an “early out” and I got to come home. Three days later I married my sweetheart. We have been married for over 59 years and every time I hear that song I cry real tears.

I listen to *Glen Campbell* everyday! Back in 1969, I was 14 years old. My brother brought home Glen's new album " *GALVESTON* " I fell in love with his songs!
Then I watched his show every Sunday Night! Then I believe it was moved to the middle of the week.. I wanted to be on his show and sing with him!
He was such a beautiful, well mannered man who could sing and play that Guitar! So, I taught myself guitar, but by the time I was half way decent
on Guitar, Glens shows was gone. Never got to meet him. Wish I had. Back then my favorite group was The Beatles. Glen was next!
Beyond a shadow of a doubt, Glen is up in Heaven doing what he loves to do the most! God, thank you for giving us Glen, we will see him later AMEN! ✝⛪💗🤗🎸

Always liked Glenn, but, since he passed, have been watching everything on him on u-tube, and really found out, what a fabulous, talented, gifted wonderful human being he was. He was so humble and straight forward, he was himself, all the time, no put ons. Seen him and Tanya on magazines, when they were doing their thing. I really liked them together. Love both of their voices, But his wife is a wonderful person also. And his children, God Bless them all, what a loss for family, and all his many fans.. We miss you Glen Campbell. God has a class act. Good for him. Glad he changed, we know we will see him one day.

I have such wonderful memories of Glen Campbell, having listened to his music in my house, when my Dad played it. I lost my Dad recently, he had Parkinson’s. Covid got Dad unfortunately. However, I will always remember Dad, and Wichita Lineman. Thank you both.. God bless you both ! 🙏😊👍👍

I can't help but cry every time I return to see this rendition because my older sister got into that path. When I warned her about Glen's bouts of "losing it, " she stared at the floor for a whole minute and reacted with a big smile touching my face.

I never really thought much about Mr Campbell until about twenty years ago, when a friend of mine asked me to go to a concert he was playing in Dublin, Ireland, ...and my God after ten minutes I realized I was in the presence of a passing weakens the link even more with the greatest generation of performers, Rest in peace Mr Campbell.

I was fortunate enough, to see this legend in 2012. It was bitter-sweet, hearing the classics & knowing of what lay ahead for him. I trust that he rests in peace & knows how much he was/is loved & missed. These legends have layed a foundation for the newer artists to build on. Thank you for sharing your gift, talent & life with us.

I feel so lucky to have grown up in the 70's. It wasn't until about 10 years ago that I learned of Glen and Jimmy's relationship of Jimmy writing huge hits and Glen with the perfect voice to sing them. What a great duo they made.

It takes such a man to be as strong and great as he was to let the public see him be vulnerable and honest about his illness, ....I have so much respect and admiration for the Rhinestone Cowboy, ...bless your soul Mr Campbell, ..I'll never forget you !!!

Saw him in Galveston Tx and he brought the house down! One of the greatest guitarists ever. Im glad they mentioned his days with the Wrecking Crew. Many people were unaware of those early days and the work he had done on so many albums for so many artists and really never getting credit for them. He will be missed...RIP Glen.

So sad he gone but he doesn't have to suffer anymore. A great musician, great singer, great songs, he never truly got he recognition he deserved but what an amazing guy. So glad I got to see him three times on his Goodbye Tour in 2012, Branson, MO, Springfield, MO, and Kansas City, MO. WOW, what a talent! Rest in Peace Glen, condolences to the family. You will be sadly missed. Been a fan since 1969 when I heard Galveston. Gone before his time.
