You remind me of the old mechanic who took care of me in college. He would give me discounts because I was in college, only sold me what I needed, would take the time to explain what he was doing so I understood it
Never tried to oversell me, or anything like that (after he retired I had to change shops and it was the first time I'd ever had an oil change end with 'do you want us to replace your brakes and windshield wipers')
Even after he retired he gave me his number so if I needed anything I could call him and he could help me out. He did this for all the kids in town because he understood that being a mechanic is a business, but he didn't want to be in the business of taking advantage of people who a)can't afford it and b)don't know any better.
Not a lot of guys like him around any more, it's why i've tried to become more handy with cars recently, and how I ended up here. Kinda full circle I guess.

Wawa carries ethanol free gas. I only use that in my car, lawn mower and generator. It costs a little more but my 160 horsepower 2018 Focus goes like a 200 horsepower Mustang.

I recently had my 2012 Prius V tuned with new coils and plugs. Out of convenience I purchased a fill-up at my local WalMart and then noted that my indicated average mpg was only 50.2 - lower than before. I subsequently filled up at Costco, and after about a hundred miles or so, my average mpg is now 58.1. i think I need to get an ethanol tester!

I tried all major brand gasoline stations but now I pump gas at Costco in Cali. So far it's cheaper in price, last longer, burns cleaner and my truck just purrs like a kitten.

yeah that 70% ethonol was the exact reason my lawnmower wouldn't stay running without me constantly jamming the primer bulb after cleaning the carberator which was full of water it started fine, go figure ... so cleaning the carberator has become regular maintenance each time before i can mow my lawn do to poor quality fuel at my station ... im tempted to drive 30 to 50 miles out of my way for some higher quality stuff to run the mower on🤷‍♀️

I think ethanol in gas is a bad idea as far as I know it takes more energy to produce then gas and it is fairly useless in fuel when it comes to gasoline

I've been ponying-up and buying ethanol-free gas at $4.20/gal.
My 63 Belair loves it as does the 98 F-150.

We had a chain locally at one point bragging on the amount of ethanol it had in its gas in the late 80s and early 90s every tank we got from there made the car run horribly so needless to say we stopped going there and eventually the station was closed and was quickly opened under a different brand gas and is doing quite well for the nee owner
