Very strange yours came in a envelope? I recently upgraded my Amex green card to the gold card and it came in a small box. Inside was an envelope that said "Now You're Golden"

Yes once your an Amex cardholder your ‘member since’ date will never change. I’ve heard of people on myFICO defaulting with Amex back in the 90’s, fixing their credit and getting back in with them in the 2010’s and when they got their card their original 90’s date was on their.

All cards are the same thickness. That uniformity is legally required. From what I can tell though, the more expensive the card, the heavier material they use for it. The CSP and CSR both come in at 13g, the amex gold at 15g, the bilt mastercard and 16g, and the C1 venture x and amex platinum at 17g. I also found a site saying the platinum is 18-18.5g though, so grain of salt. That said, all the above cards, regardless of weight, are mandated to be .76mm thick

I was surprised to see that they considered me a member already for a few years too when I got the Amex Plat. I have had another Amex card for a few years, so they include that.

The member since year should be the year you got your first AMEX regardless of what card it is. Sometimes when you get a new card they forget to check and just print the current year. But if you get that card reprinted then it will also always correct to that first year you got it.

Atleast it is a metal card. In india, you get it as a plastic card.

Credit cards can be extremely slim and thin and it can easily be snapped sooo be careful
