1 in 5K People have Blood Clots on Planes

Показать описание
Deep vein thrombosis (aka economy class syndrome) occurs when you sit in the same position for a long time without much movement, such as when flying. Pressure builds in your lower legs and blood flow is reduced, resulting in a higher risk of blood clots forming.

To reduce your risk, move around every hour, drink lots of water, and avoid sleeping or sitting in awkward positions for too long. Some people swear by compression socks but it’s unclear if they actually provide health benefits. If you’ve cracked jokes about “airplane yoga,” you shouldn’t! Stretching mid-flight is a great idea.

I'm a truck driver and sitting so much has caused my legs to get lipedema. Typically every hour I like to get up and stretch and I do drink a lot of water but I have to stay away from salty and very processed foods. I just really like my coffee everyday it's sort of like my guilty trucker pleasure. I have found a way to lift my legs and do calf raises while I'm driving. I need to get some good compression leggings as well.
