#BlackSabbath #Dio #TheSignOfTheSouthernCross

In this episode of #TheDailyDoug, I'm listening to The Sign of the Southern Cross by Black Sabbath. The song is from Mob Rules, their 10th album, celebrating its 40th anniversary this month. This is as much fun as I've had on a Metal Monday in a while...a great track with a great message and powerful singing! Enjoy.

Dio's voice on this album is just so damn powerful. He was the best of the best.

Dio is on the Rushmore of greatest vocal performances I've ever seen. I'm blessed to have seen him live!

This and Falling off the Edge of the World are my two faves on the album.

Hard to believe when Dio sang on this album he was 40 years old in 1981, meanwhile all the heavy metal bands were just getting started with guys in their early twenties.

And that’s what they mean by “HEAVY metal”!

"Don't live for pleasure, make life your treasure" ...Best line ever!

Fun fact, the reason this album sounds so damn good is it was produced by Martin Birch, the same guy who did all of Iron Maiden's classic 80s albums.

Always love hearing Geezer Butler's bass playing. This song especially stands out IMO. A powerful song!! "Lonely is the Word" from Heaven and Hell is another great Dio/Sabbath song.

Dios voice is unique and unmistakable, saw him many times - sabbath, Dio, heaven and hell band. met him, hung out. when he died I attended his funeral. his lyrics are very deep and mean something different to each person who hears them IMO. Dio will live on forever.

Probably my favorite Black Sabbath song. "Eight miles high, about to fall, and no one there to catch you!"

Sometimes I can't help but to get misty eyed hearing RJD.

You need to do “Falling Off The Edge Of The World” because it will blow you away too.

Ronnie was the absolute best voice in the history of metal music.
He had everything in his vocal arsenal.
Softness, Brutality, and everything in between.
Not to mention the flawless and truthful interpretation.
Every single word coming through his mouth had a deep meaning and his delivery was second to none.

There's a Tony Martin era of Black Sabbath vocals too. A very gifted singer as well.
