#IronMaiden #NumberOfTheBeast #UpTheIrons

In this edition of #TheDailyDoug, I'm returning to Iron Maiden for one of their classic early tracks. Celebrating its 40th anniversary this past week, Number of the Beast is one of the more controversial tunes from IM's catalog...especially with its overt Biblical references. This is my first time hearing it...and I have thoughts. I hope you enjoy! #UpTheIrons

"That guitar solo was too short" - finally, a man who knows what he's talking about! :D

"That guitar solo was too short".
That's why we love you, Doug.
Thanks for paying homage to one of greatest Metal songs of all time.

I love how Dave’s solos are a bit more thrash/speed metal and then Adrian comes in with the more Blues type solo. But still perfectly complimenting each other.

"The saints go marching in" I will never be able to listen to this song the same way again.

Iron Maiden wrote the D major to F major chromatic third section because they knew dream theater was going to use that technique twenty years later.

Took my 22 year old son to Maiden two years ago, and he was surprised on how much he enjoyed the show. It was a phenomenal show the multiple sets for each songs were great. Iron Maiden is a must for everyone to see. My parents in the 80’s were wrong Metal is the greatest music ever.

Iron Maiden are a great live show.

Do whatever you can to to see them live, you won't be disappointed.

Doug, your "when the saints go marching in" is spot on! Although I like many of their albums, I get this persistent "galloping on horseback" feel to the songs ... always riding into battle in some ancient war ... I can always spot an Iron Maiden song just on that soundscape.

You should listen to "22 Acacia Avenue" from the same album. Heavier and more complex/interesting!

Best Metal band. Best Metal album. Best Metal line-up
Clive Burr was a monster on his drum kit! And yes, the best Metal drummer!
RIP Clive

Coincidentally, one of their simplest songs is arguably one of their best!

Please do some of Bruce's solo stuff. "Tears of a Dragon, " "Dark Side of Aquarius, " "Chemical Wedding..."

You absolutely have to see them live if you have the chance. They are my favorite band, but I can say without bias that they might just be the best live band around (still). They put bands almost a quarter of their age to shame with their energy and performance.

I have seen every tour since 1982 from the NOTB to present! I'm going to go see Maiden in Salt Lake City on September 19, 2022 and then in Seattle on September 29, 2022! Greatest band ever in my humble opinion. Their shows are electric and when the crowd joins in it's magic! As a kid I was in a few bands and yes, we played us some Maiden! Coolest songs that we played in our band were Aces High and Rime of the Ancient Mariner! Singing and playing those songs were amazing! We played the Dianno stuff, my favorites were Murders in the Rue Morgue, Remember Tomorrow and Phantom of the Opera. And that stuff blew people away. They were ask questions like, how do you know how to play that, it was the 80s mankind was a simpler breed. UP THE IRONS!

The bass work under the second solo kicks total ass.

For me, this is THE Iron Maiden song. It so much embodies what Iron Maiden is like. I wouldn't make it a second shorter or longer, it is just as it should be. And thanks for your reaction!

Seen you since the first Maiden song reaction and so thrilled that you MIGHT go to a live show. Love seeing how your brain works to this! Thanks so much! Up The Irons!
