He actually tried not to kill Lilly, because Snape had asked him not to. Because he gave her the choice to step aside, and she chose to die instead, is the real reason her love protected Harry. If he didn't give her that moment of choice, the entire prophecy would have been negated. So in a way, it was Snape's love for Lilly that made the entire story possible.

Both Harry and Neville killed Voldemort, since Neville destroyed nagini and Neville grew up without his parents, both Harry and Neville were sorted into gryfindor. Both had the ability to love and self sacrifice, powers Voldemort didn't possess. Both boys were a huge over sight on Voldemort's part

For some reason I thought that Snape had always been a spy, I didn't know he was ever actually a Deatheater. I'd love to see a video on Snapes life/spy activities.

somewhere i read a theory that it wasnt lilys love that caused the killing curse to rebound. the theory proposed that when voldemort promised snape he wouldnt kill lily he inadvertenly made an unbreakable vow with snape and when he killed lily he broke it

If people dont know,
* "He will mark him as his equal" *
As soon as he tried to kill an infant harry and gave him his scar, he literally marked harry himself and made him his equal as he was able to rebound the curse due to his mother's protection.

And * "he will possess power the dark lord knows not" *

This refers to the power of love, as Harry's parents had given their lives to protect him, and her sacrifice to protect her child was, as Voldemort called it upon his resurrection; "old magic." As her sacrifice had given harry protection from any harm from Voldemort as soon as she died.

Voldemort was conceived through unnatural means, meaning his mother had given his muggle father a love potion. During this time when tom riddle SR. was smitten by the love potion, he had gotten voldemorts mother pregnant. And due to one of the parents under the influence of a love potion, the offspring of said parent will be cursed to never know love in their entire life. Which lead to Voldemort being cold, calculating and unforgiving. He was literally born unable to feel normal human emotion, which had lead to his corruption of his soul. So Harry had known the power of love, which was the ultimate result of voldemort being defeated, in both of the wizarding wars. Because harry had possessed the power of love, which voldemort could never have, or even begin to understand.

Wonderful video! I just have to say Emma Thompson was casted perfectly for Professor Trelawney, amazing actress. How about a video about Neville's parents? The movies left it out almost completely and to hear about his visits with them would be nostalgic. Keep up the good work!

In theory, had Sybill not told Dumbledore about this prophecy, Snape wouldn't hear it and Voldemort wouldn't have a reason to murder Harry. Could it be that she is directly responsible for starting the whole chain of events? Is Sybill the true hero for creating "the boy who lived" by telling a prophecy which would not come true had it not been uttered?
