One thing I don't fully understand is when the spell rebounded and essentially destroyed his physical body did voldemort just wander around like a spirit would possessing whoever or whatever he could? That thing he grew from in g.o.f was absolutely horrifying.. looked pretty much like the part of soul that was in the fetal position lying underneath Harry and dumbledore in the 'train station'

When voldemort put the killing curse in Harry he gave Harry some of his powers which is how harry can speak parceltounge!

It creates a plot armor for harry.. as if lily was the only mother who would have willing sacrified herself to protect her child. By that logic there should a bunch of kids with lightning scars on their heads and voldy perhaps would be destroyed earlier

You did not answer the question, so i will do it for you: she literally invoked self sacrificial magic, as i guess similar to unbreakable vow. Basically, when Tom murdered Lily he basically accepted "kill me but not him". And when he turned his killing curse on Harry he literally broke oath(?) he just swore unintentionally, thus getting killed- disembodied. What is interesting is that he would likely not have been able to touch Harry at all if he was resurrected without his blood since oath was still active, and if he were to try and kill him once again he would have met the very same fate

One thing about this plot that has always bothered me was how messy it got over time. Like, we are to believe every wizard forgot that taking a figurative bullet for someone puts a wordless defense charm around them? Lilly was the only person in centuries to do this? K. That doesn’t seem the type of thing a collective group of people would just forget happens, especially when they can literally extract and preserve memory. That is just one instance of… “but, wait?” with this bloated plot.
