I feel like there being a difference makes canon sense. New Vegas super mutants were made by the Master while the Fallout 4 super mutants were made by the Institute using a possibly slightly different serum. The Fallout 4 super mutants were also simply dropped into the common wealth after transforming whole the super mutants made by the Master were trained as soldiers.

i went directly from beating fallout 4 to playing nv and just about every variant of enemy/creature is like 10x more lethal even on normal difficulty. i was so bored with the super mutants from FO4 by the time i was level 40

My first game in the franchise was New Vegas, I was used to the difficulty of the game, when I went to play 4 on the highest difficulty it seems like a walk in the park.

Fallout 4 is still a great game but the survival mechanic of avoiding conflict was lost on fallout 4. Fallout 3, NV once you started a fight it was either you or them.

Nah, NV mutants might be easier to kill compared to the death claws, but fo4s super mutants definitely got nerfed, even fo3 were bullet sponges but they were balanced, FO4 looks like you can side step and briskly walk away from them 😂😂😂
