Continuing to ruck with your son until he's a fully grown man will be a prime form of progressive overload that will also assert your dominance in the neighborhood.

Baby Bromley has put on so much sickening mass is such a short space of time, I'm starting to question his natty status.

If you would have told me while I was in the Marine Corps that some day I would be doing that shit for fun, I would have laughed in your face.

Every infantryman's neck, back, knees, and ankles watching someone call rucking "recovery" : *uuughhh*

A word of advice for people getting into rucking/backpacking--pack quality makes a huge difference in your ability to carry heavy loads comfortably. If you're serious about getting into the game, look into high-end military packs or (my preference) backcountry hunting packs from brands like EXO Mountain Gear, Kuiu, Kifaru, and such. They are not cheap, but they make a world of difference if you are going to be carrying more than about 40 pounds over longer distances. They will last you 20 years and you will enjoy using them much more than the cheap stuff.

I have been rucking 2 days, 2 boxing 2 days and doing full body barbell workouts 2 days at week at 5'7 with 200 pounds and never felt more athletic and powerful than now.

I have never in my life done military cosplay. But hiking with 1-2 30-40 lb todlers has kept me in way better cardiovascular shape than "hybrid athletes" would think.

I walked with my boy like this, as he is getting older he wants to walk much more than his friends. Instilling in him that going for a walk is normal. I have found he has been a real driver for my training to be a role model for mini me

I Hate running but rucking is something I could do all day.

Hated it in the army, love it now. Better recovery than running and also helps both with leg and back gains.

I live in the 'burbs of Las Vegas. I walk to the gym (about a mile away) with a backpack of gym gear. Often, I'll end hit up the grocery store and end up with 30lbs of groceries and gear for the walk home. Even this small ruck feels like I'm getting way more benefit than if I was just walking.

The mental ease of rucking is really understated. The difference between how awful a 8:00/mile pace for running is and how much easier 10:00/mile pace with 45lb on my back is should be the exact reason that people should be rucking instead of running

I liked it better when it was called hiking with a pack, but, yes, it is indeed a game changer. I also prefer the time when "overlanding" was called car-camping, but I digress...

A man of your calibre surely has a heart rate monitor or smart watch. Measure the same walk with and without weight yourself and it will give you your own personal formula. Doesn’t matter how accurate the HR monitor is, as long as the tool is consistent in its inaccuracy, it’s the ratio that you’re interested in.

Add a hill into your ruck and you can cut the distance for calories burned in half easily
