That is so clearly firewood. Why would anyone think otherwise. That bowl is gorgeous and that burl or what not is amazing. It is cool how the funkiest pieces of wood make the most interesting pieces.

Sometimes...u can literally SHOW someone something...step by step...and they STILL won't believe what they saw. The proof is ALWAYS in the PUDDING...not in the recipe. EXCELLENT WORK, sir.

Im goin in the wood turning business, did some of it when I was a kid, now Im retired. I still love wood. Every piece is different, Every piece stains different and finishes different, its always a surprise and really lets you get creative. SO much satisfaction. Nice job.

Even at the 3/4 stage of the video I couldn't help thinking how on earth can you turn something nice out of what seemed a piece of junk! I'm a wannabe wood turner and what a lesson I've learned! a piece of art from something I would rather have burned, what a great lesson, thank you Roger.

It makes NO difference to me which wood u choose to turn...I just really enjoy watching u work. The finished product is THE JUICE....that's what I wait to see.

Excellent explanation of how to use (safety Wise) and how to work through issues of the wood. Beautiful work my friend.

I've seen other turners use resin, both colored and clear, to both repair and spice up the wood a bit. I think that some resin, maybe amber-orange colored, used to round off all the bumps (and seal voids) would have made the tiger bowl really pop and allowed it to keep truer to the initial vision of the shape & orientation, but still pleased as all get-out as to how well it turned out in the end even without that. :) glad you didn't have to abandon the piece.

Never saw an imperfect piece of wood; there is some beautiful piece hiding inside.. Nice work.

Really nice one. Those imperfect ones seems to have much more soul in them than some might think.
