1990-2007 Honda Civic D Series Timing Belt Replacement VManual (Trailer)

This VManual covers the complete step by step replacement of the timing belt and water pump on Honda Civics equipped with the D series engine. In addition it covers the drive belt replacement and bleeding the cooling system.

Specifically this VManual covers the replacement of the timing belt and water pump on a 2007 Honda Civic. I also cover the older version of the D series timing belt replacement found in older model Civics. These procedures are detailed throughout the video as cut aways to a 1999 model Civic. The main differences between the older and newer engines is the placement of the accessories, mainly the alternator. Older D series engines placed the alternator on the back of the engine toward the firewall or bulkhead. Newer versions of the D series mounted the alternator on the front of the engine near the radiator. The engines are essentially the same, it's the placement of the accessories, and the type of timing belt tensioner used, that separates the 2 versions. Both timing belt tensioners are covered in the VManual.

I briefly touch on the cam and crankshaft oil seal replacement in the video, but it is not detailed. I do cover how to effectively remove the crank bolt using a couple of different methods. I also bring my years of Honda experience to show you little tips and tricks to make the job easier. If nothing else after watching the VManual, you will know exactly what's involved with the job and feel more confident doing it yourself.

I replaced the timing belt and water pump back in May of 2014 and although the timing belt video you did back then helped i could have used a more in depth video like this at that time. That crank bolt was defiantly the most difficult part of the job.

My 2006 civic lx has a timing chain. I tried to find the time change interval for it, and all indications is no change life of the engine part. Can anyone confirm this?

2006 and up Civic's don't have D series engines or a timing belt.

EricTheCarGuy It is OK to sell VManuals, but why is there no price to be seen anywhere? Or does one have to click on the "Terms of Sale & return policy" link to see how much they are? Well, not that I'm planning to buy any (mainly because I own none of these cars, nor do I have to do such a job), but if I were, I would feel not taken fully serious as a potential customer. How to sell anything without the buyer knowing how much they pay?
