How Fast is Mach 10?

What might a fly by at Mach 10 look like? Using MSFS, here is what the Darkstar from Top Gun Maverick would look like filmed from a stationary position in space as it flies by the camera at Mach 10 in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Multiple camera positions are used for different perspectives. Enjoy!

Very impressive. I didn't fully understand what speed was, until seeing this. Mine won't quite go so fast... 540 KIAS... have a feeling I need to follow your suggestions in the previous video.

That’s so fast that the sound can’t even catch up. Kilometers is seconds. Nice!

Actually the Darkstar can even be a little faster than 5.500 knots. Try flying at ~110.000 ft, it should top out somewhere at 5.780 knots and Mach 9.8 😊

Ignoring the scram-glitch that allows for 7.100 knots 😁

If a little math get's applied... in FL250 circumnavigation in 3, 28 hours, compared to the ISS, roughly on FL1300 in 1, 5 hours with around Mach 22, 7... not really speeding 😉💙
