Rybelsus. Ozempic’s least favourite sibling?

Rybelsus, have you heard of it? Probably not. I am sure you have heard of oral Ozempic, though! That is because that is what Rybelsus is. Oral Ozempic is what everyone refers to it as, in typical least favourite sibling fashion.

Rybelsus contains semaglutide, just like Ozempic, but what else makes it different? They both help with blood sugar levels and weight loss, but how do they compare?

In this video, I weigh the pros and cons of Rybelsus and look at how it measures up to Ozempic.

I'm no Doctor but my daughter was 330lbs and lost 140 lbs over a year and she doesn't have any sugar problems or HBP problems anymore. She got rid of the metformin and lisinopril. I think our society need to put more effort in preventing these sugar and blood pressure problems by addressing overweight and obesity.

I am overweight, not obese, about 30+ pounds to loose. I have finished the one month 3 mg Rybelsus and am half way through the next month at 7 mg. I LOVE this stuff! Appetite is sufficiently suppressed that one can make careful decisions about what, when and how much to eat; the hunger spikes are much reduced or eliminated thus I'm eating fewer highly refined carbs (gotta love that sugar!). No side effects to date. Looking forward to my more svelte body in a few months. :-)

I don’t understand why rybelsus is the least favorite? I’ve been on it for over a month and love it

I really appreciate that you provide your own captions. Also, I relate to not being the favorite child.

Been on Rybelsus for a little less than a year now and am down approx. 15kg or 12% of starting weight.
And that is also when I completely has mishandled my diet by cheating a lot during Rybelsus. (Which is all my fault). So I think it is a very good medicine for me.

I took Rybelsus for several months. It made me so miserable nauseous that I went back down to 3mg, and eventually every other day, and gave up. It also gave me terrible constipation, too. I will say that I started it the last 30 days of my 90 day A1C testing and I dropped 1.0!! I got back to 6.1 and did lose some weight but I couldn’t take it anymore. I went back on Tradjenta, my A1C and weight started creeping back up. I hate needles but I have a rare disease (Cushing’s) and I have to start a 2x a day injectable med for that. It has the side effect of causing type 2 if you don’t already have it! And it raises sugars through the roof for diabetics. So, I have to switch to Ozempic because it works the mechanism that gets out of whack with the Cushing’s med. I’m not happy about the injection part but it sounds like once a week from a pen is easy, and just one more on top of the 14 shots a week! I’m glad that it has the benefit of weight loss, as does the other medication. It’s really hard to lose weight when you’re fighting Cushing’s because it causes obesity.

Love this information! As an NP I get free samples of these medications and you really help me understand all the nuances.

I like Rybelsus more than Mounjaro. It works just as well but doesn’t make me as sick and no shots.

My doctor wanted to change my blood sugar meds and said I could take Rybelsus or Ozemipc. They had a trial package of Rybelsus so I took that home. Then I read how you take it - first thing in the morning, before any food, and before any other meds, with no more than 4 oz of water...then wait a half an hour, take the rest of any meds you have and then eat. Kind of a hassle, but hey....I'll try anytthing. If you take it - make SURE that you have your water ready because as SOON as the pill touches your tongue, you will experience the most God awful taste. Since you start both with a lower dose, I called and said I wanted Ozempic. IT's actually much easier to administer. I won't know for a month or so what kind of effect it will have, but from what I hear, I should be fairly happy.

Due to supply issues, I changed from ozempic 1mg to rybelsus 14mg. Strict adherence to administration protocol. No significant side effects. However, weight gain, average am fasting glucose gone from 120 to 155mg/dl. Not a happy patient. Can't wait to get back to ozempic!

I am on Saxenda (Liraglutide) at 1.8 mg. Not having anymore nausea, but I can feel the food digest slower, my hunger and food addiction get so much lower. I am going to start Rybelsus (Semaglutide) 7 mg soon cuz it is cheaper. I am not needle phobic, but I have sensitive skin, so I don't like poking my skin every single day.
My doctor said the nausea going to get worse than Saxenda. So I will see how it goes, when I start it.

My insurance wouldn’t cover ozempic or wegovy, but they will cover Rybelsus… so it’s the only way that my Dr could get me on Semiglutide.

I took rebelsus for diabetes but found I was nauseous, had severe diarrhoea, felt awful and couldn’t face any food. I had to stop it.

So it's a yr later do you still feel the same about how rybelsus is absorb into your bloodstream compared to ozempic? How does one get a couple samples (coupons for samples) of either of these? If you happen to know, it's kinda hard in Canada right now. Also can you switch if your on one to the other? Also why does Rybelsus deplete you of energy ? I know lots of questions 🙂
