Learn to ride moto trials! Trials riding must be the best kept secret in the world of motorbikes. For some reason trials riding (or observed trials) is only big in Europe and the UK... elsewhere there are just a handful of trials clubs in each country such as Western Districts Trials club which makes these trials training vids. This introduction to trials techniques explains why trials riders are so glad they are in on the secret - we reckon you should be too! Visit your local moto-trials club and chat with some trials training fanatics today...

I've been into trials bikes since 1973. At 59 years old I just bought a Gas Gas TXT 300. I don't actually compete in trials as there are no clubs within 150 miles of me. I just love to play ride. Logs, small rocks, steps. I just wish trials would become more popular in America. I'd love to see more dealerships stock trials bikes

Trials riding has been the best fun I've had, going slow!
Great content, Barry - Cheers 🍻

Yesterday, my first Trials bike has arrived - I’ve decided to go for a 2017 Beta evo factory 125cc😁
Thank you Barry for your precious hints!!!
It’s so much fun, very addictive and crazy difficult 😂🤙

Great video! Only thing I've also read is that if you are buying used to buy the newest, cleanest bike you can afford. Here in the US trials bikes are quite expensive on the used market and hold their value well after the first year or two depreciation. Except for crash damage they are pretty bullet proof but like all dirt bikes they suffer from the environment they are ridden in and from abuse (lack of preventive maintenance).

if you intend to use a trials bike to rip up and down trails often they can over-heat quickly which can cause the engine to seize. The radiators are small compared to an enduro bike so be wary of this. So use the trials bike like it is intended. If you like ripping up and down trails or tearing up the side of mountains you should chose an enduro bike

I bought a trials bike because of your enduro cross training videos brought me over here. I'm a total knob head though and got myself a 328cc 2 stroke as my first ever trials. Oh well, guess I'll get good or die trying.

Pretty much "spot on" Barry, thank you. As for your comment about how long a Trials motor lasts, I started competing in 1968 and have yet to rebuild a Trials motor. Currently riding Trials bike #20.

Geez Barry, you know how hard it is to actually buy a 2nd hand Trials bike? I ended up with a 2006 TXT280 - great bike and comes with a power controller - me! 😆 Gonna try my first competition this Sunday actually. 👍

I'm planning a YouTube review of the top trials training channels and was going to include yours. Screen recording for a short duration and giving all credit to your channel to plug your work. I appreciate what you've giving back to the sport and learned so much from consuming your videos. Let me know if you're alright being included in this please. Cheers mate

I found a very well maintained 75' Yamaha TY175 for $1500. The tank has some dents, and the fenders are scratched. However it starts on the first or second kick. I've been having a lot of fun on it. I've also found is that there is a small but apparently thriving cottage industry both in the US and UK keeping these bikes going, So parts are relatively easy to find. Not bad for a 45 year old bike.

Can you use a regular dirtbike/motorcross as a trials bike?

I’ve been on the fence for a trials bike for a year now. This video may just push me over the edge.

I love my '18 Montesa 260. I'd highly recommend it if you're thinking about getting into this sports.
Just don't get a 4 stroke 125 if you're an adult - it will be so difficult to learn some essential skills like riding over a knee high rock with at least 5 different ways.

I guess I'm getting a 250 Sherco although I'd like a 125 because I want to learn fast, not compete. Seems hard to find anything
If I could buy a full sized eletric one for $3000, I would

So to confirm, apart from the Trials Clubs or private property, there aren't many places you can ride? Say if i have an early finish at work and a short arvo to kill, it wouldn't be like chucking my registered enduro bike in the back of the ute and driving 40 min to the Glasshouse mtns for a few hours riding?
