I like to add power to my punches in "street fights" by holding a karambit in my hand when I "punch".

Same idea for Kempo. Staying relaxed is a huge part of Kempo.

I agree! Too many people waste way too much time loading up, and it's a huge deal, because say you only connect one time for every three of those, due to being slow. It's going to be a huge hit, when you do connect. But connecting on two punches, from being fast, instead of just that one, is going to keep you from getting hit, since you're stunning them, and two punches at 75% is 50% more than one at 100%....

hi guys good postings all the time very informative, logical and applicable. Martial arts goes beyond the physical aspect into the essence of personal cultivation and discovery and all of you have been very positive representations of the true nature of this journey. Thank you.

I see some very fast and very strict form punches, they would smart but you could throw fast punches with more forces by putting more of you body into it.

wait a minute guys. i think theres something missing here. the definition of Power. i think its the ability to punch THROUGH someone instead of at it. yeah speed will increase the force of impact but its the transfer of body weight that makes a punch more POWERFUL right? so if im punching while relaxed sure ill punch faster but that doesnt mean ill punch HARDER

You can practice as much as you want but it all comes down to the moment, everything changes when your heart reaches 150bpm and everything feels 100mph, it's about timing, timing is literally everything, it beats speed, if someones swinging at you with a full body swing and you're in the right place and it's the right time, you could catch him out with an upper cut and that could be game over for him, so really timing -in my eyes at least- is far more important than speed.
