I like your set up, Dale, especially with the 9v battery. Much safer than using a car battery. One thing I did was use a large gatorade bottle to capture the stream of cleaner. I cut an X in the cap just big enough to fit the end of the injector and to allow pressure to escape from the spray. The gatorade bottle was sturdy and transparent for monitoring the spray pattern.

I really like your method of connecting the can to the injector. In another video they mentioned that you might cook the solenoid in the injector if you have a constant connection. So I might not do everything the same way you did, but the connection was the best I have seen so Thanks for posting!!!

Lost power in my WJ and the shop said they are pretty sure I blew an intake valve, I've been watching your videos on disassembling and cleaning all the parts down to the head removal. They have been crazy helpful, thank you! Gonna be cleaning the injectors today.

Thanks. Saved me $295 for fuel injector service. Now I can do it myself.

Very good. Thanks for listing parts. I wondered what the wires were. Working on my motorcycle. Your setup is best one I’ve seen.

I'm new at t this. After going to the school of You Tube on this subject, I find out each injector has a fuel screen in them and you should do a continuity test on each injector. You don't have to know what the continuity number is, but each injector should be very close to the same number. Mine has 4. The continuity results were, 13.6, 11.6, 9.8 and 7.2. These injectors have 240, 000 miles on them. With bad continuity numbers and too many miles I wanted to just replace them. O'Reilly's wanted $100 for each injector, = $400! So, I found them on Amazon for $10.75 each, = $43. I found a rebuild kit with new screens for $28. $43 - $28 = $15. I'm replacing mine with new ones from Amazon.

Finally, a useful injector cleaning video. All the other ones I watched are people filming with 1 hand in their shop that has one 5 watt light bulb.

You can hook up a push button switch between the battery & injector to cycle / pulsate the injector to see what the spray pattern looks like, also makes it alot easier than trying to hold the wires & spray the cleaner at the same time✌

I wouldn't leave the 9 volt hooked up to the injector, you want to pulse clean it by touching the battery terminal for short periods of time. You need another hose clamp on rubber tubing holding injector on so it does not fly off. Also back flush the injector too.

This is an excellent homemade tool for fuel injector cleaning!

Good setup for getting the cleaner to the injector, but if you used TWO HOSE CLAMPS then you could use one hand on the cleaner trigger and the other hand to touch the battery intermittently.

The stopper being slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the hose is a good thing. But put the injector in the pipe first and secure it and push the stopper in until it hits the injector. Should give you more cleaning force, as there's no gap between the two. Also, spray the cleaner into a jar or container so you can reuse it, either putting a part into the container or pour the cleaner onto a part.

Awesome ... well done! I sure wish I would have found your site before I replaced my all 6 injectors. I had shopped around for pricing to have them cleaned but they wanted almost as much as it cost to buy them new! Good news is that I didn’t throw the old ones away. One day when I’m bored I will definitely put your technique into action ! THANKS!

Thank you for sharing your cleaning tube setup. Mercury injectors are $250 each. DIY cleaning is my 1st step!

I actually bought the proper cleaning kit that comes with the leads and plugs and also 2 plastic tubes with different size holes where you insert the feed end of the injector. Cheap to buy now and lots have been sold! It is cheaper than buying new and obviously works faster than additives. I used good old fashioned carb cleaner. I've watched all the black crap and soot disappear off those old weber carbs!

Dude! Washington State eliminated emissions permanently. My friend took off all that smog shit and now his inline six runs cooler and cleaner and the performance is awesome. 😆
