First, use a little less than I did. I was using toothpaste and it was difficult to get just a little on there.

Applying thermal paste is a science, nay, an art. There are many wrong ways to do it and only a few right ways to do it. Following this guide will help you keep temps low.

And before you yell... it's Tuniq, not tunia...

great idea to use a clear plate to show what actually happens

I made a snowflake and my CPU temp went below 0 degrees Celsius. At first I thought I had discovered the most effective method of application, but then my computer froze.

This video from 2012 looks better than 80% of the videos from 2018 lol

This is probably the most informative tutorial on applying thermal paste ever. You go through the pros and cons and i've never seen the glass testing. Knowing how the paste spreads this has changed my views on the line method.

personally found that jizz on my £120 cpu works as the best thermal paste, with no regard for coverage (usually ends up all over the motherboard) and great heat transfer i really recommend jizzing on your cpu instead of buying expensive thermal paste.

You don't need to buy it, just download some thermal paste.

I never imagined a thermal paste video could be this good.

Good videos and explanation. The problem with the pea and line methods is that:
1. the heatsink isn't see-through like the plastic piece and there is no way to know if you apply the pressure evenly. If the pressure isn't even there will be more paste on one side and none at all on the other.
2. the pea expands in a circle and will not cover the corners of the square which will become hotspots.
I am sure others have covered/commented on that before.

wow, probably the best and most entertaining tutorial I've seen! Main points stressed out right at the beginning, interesting to see several application patterns throught the clear plate and the whole vid is covered in decent dose of day-enhancing humor! Great job, thanks!

You can also use it instead of toothpaste to stop your teeth getting hot.

Just recently watched a couple "how to" videos on applying Thermal Paste and this one is the best out of all of them, the plastic really lets you see exactly what's happening.

I havn't had to much trouble with paste, spreading or pea it always works in the end. One time I went with acrtic silver for performance, but later I switched to somthing non conductive because it works just as well. Arctic Mx-2 is what I get now, it has a great consistency.

I wish I had watched this when I replaced my laptop fan. The replacement fan came with thermal paste but zero direction on how to apply it properly. I should probably open the sucker up again and reapply the paste...

THANK YOU!!!
Someone who does it so you can SEE how it looks underneath. This is 9 years old and STILL the best vid for applying thermal paste correctly.

After extensive research I've found that the metal method yields on average 2fps in video games higher than any other paste application method.
