It’s funny because you actually don’t know what you’re talking about. If you go into the settings menu there are four options on how to unlock your charger and the behavior that it will take based on what you want to do. So why don’t you read your manual first before you spread the misinformation saying that’s the only way to do it if it’s locked with the key that is not true you can control the behavior of your charger lock in your settings. Now you know.

Just finished renting one of these. The doors will lock the second you plug the charger into it. This will also lock the charger in place. All you need to do it press the unlock on your key fob to unlock the doors and the charger.

Well, most cars lock the charging cable and just by pressing the open button you can unlock. But you can set up in the settings. So the cable would not be locked.
Simple like that and not stupid or worse rhsn Tesla - just a bit different.
