The fear is always there, your amps need to be spot on as does the prep

I remember doing this in school. 6010 uphill open root and my teacher correctly described it as being on the edge of disaster the entire weld.

You can tell by the way it is burning and the slag it is not a 6010 cellulosic
electrode.

What Rod were you using and what position because I wasn’t paying too much into details but I like details if you don’t mind really what I wanted to ask was what size was your landing if you had any at all

In my opinion, I feel he should have aimed his rod toward the side walls a bit more. Helps keep the center(base) of the root more stable. great weld all in all.
