I think the biggest middle finger Ford has given to Ferrari was in 2016. Ford decided last minute to make a new GT, and enter it at LeMans in thr GT class. They entered, and beat Ferrari to win the class, 50 years after they did it the first time.

Essentially they said, "any time we want, we can join your game and beat you."
