Oh Jeremy if only you knew how expensive that Supra was gonna get.

I much prefer watching Jeremy Clarkson reviewing Fiestas than any supercar.

JC in 1995 - "Look at the kind of cars we're driving - They're all too big, unkind on the environment, expensive"
Today with every other car on UK roads being and SUV, with JC himself driving a Range Rover V8... 😆

We had the same model. Rot was the killer - when it rained you could hear the fizz.

Best cars ever. Those early Zetec engines were fantastic, had 3 of them and they were hands down the most reliable cars I’ve ever owned.

I always remember this Fiesta as a base vehicle in TOCA2 on Playstation 1 :) best touring car racing sim of the era & long after.

I love old Top Gear. Unfortunately we didn't get it here in the US when it was new. I'm a big fan of Jeremy Clarkson. Thanks.

I got a 1.3 Endura a few months back, the previous owner installed a KW sport suspension and a big, cheap Renegade Subwoofer, it's a fantastic first car, really fun to drive.

I have a 2001, 1.6 (zetec rocam) sedan version of this car, it's my first car, and it has over 170000kms (105633 miles for my non-metric mates) on the odometer, I love how reliable and fun it is, I just love it.

Lovely car. Rust has killed most now, but what a fabulous thing it was to drive. Fortunately successive Fiestas have managed to keep the magic. Sadly probably we won't see many more iterations due to the dual issues of being forced into badly packaged, expensive and oversized EVs, and the somewhat aligned market obsession with SUVs.

The best Fiesta. Might not have been the fastest but they are just so brilliant to drive. A bit firm but it's not wasted, unlike on a lot of modern cars.

My parents bought one for £400. Ran it for over 10 years, spent maybe £150 on it, and sold it fairly recently for more than they paid for it. It was even written off twice in its life and is still out there somewhere!

I worked at a Ford dealer who’d recently lost their franchise in 97. We’d bought a dozen or so of ex Jersey hire cars, all Fiesta Ghia s, the same as the one Clarkson is driving here. Took all the sales team, valeters, some admin staff a few miles across town to collect them and had an idea. I made sure every car had Classic FM on the radio and coming up towards the Cowgate and Grassmarket in Edinburgh, we all turned up full with windows down and started a gentle (and safe) synchronised light driving sway to the time of the music. Quite something to see the tourists and locals stare in disbelief.
They were fantastic handling little things. Shame there was no camera phones back then

There's still lots of these Fiestas here in Exeter. A lot of people looked after them.

I’m from SA. Still running my ‘03 1.3L fiesta (Rocam spec). She’s barebones save for an air conditioner. No power steering, no airbags, no sunroof, no traction control or ABS. They’re surprisingly low to the ground in comparison to most other cars so cornering’s pretty decent. Their peppy engines help with overtaking without destroying your wallet. Sure there’s rust, but some have been on the road for over two decades so it’s understandable. They’re little gems.

When the phrase "Chairman of ICI" (or Managing Director) was the go-to phrase for the best-paid job you could possibly have in the UK.
I made this comment 8 years ago at a former company, one of the graduates replied "What's ICI ?"

I once had a 1979 Fiesta. That car was a blast to drive. At that time I had a newspaper route with a 130 customers, six days a week. That was one tough little car!

My sister had a 1996 1.3 endura engined encore from brand new and didn't change the oil in 100, 000 miles of ownership. It sounded rattly by the end but man was it reliable. I had a 1.25 ghia auto for over a year and loved it! Of course I'm going back to the late 90s. Most of them are dust by now!

We had a mk4 1.3 37kW (50hp) from 2003 to 2020. Great little car. Had a bit of rust on back lips as they called it and the idle control valve which was prone to stucking because of city driving.
