my grandma who grew up in russia said in her village at a lake, this same thing happened, a giant catfish pulled people under water & no one ever found them, , , then years later a drought happened, & inside a tunnel under tree roots all the human remains/bones were found, the catfish was also caught & killed, it was around 400 pounds, it had some strange mutation, lake was near some communist secret nuclear facility that was abandoned

Jeremy goes so far away, to US and even India, to see a huge catfish, that can swallow humans, and have done it, when all he has to do is come to the Balkan part of Europe, where he'll get to see WAY LARGER catfish than those!
I'm from Macedonia, where there are quite a few lakes, and in more than couple of them, it's been well documented that at the very bottom, there are catfish that are over 4, 5 meters long, and weigh between 500 and 1000 kilograms! LITERALLY! They were all seen when by divers, when a person drowns and they regularly send a team of divers to find the body! Its been more than a dozen times, reported how all of the divers were getting out of the water in extreme panic, all of them claiming to have seen and felt giant catfish, that were as big as great white sharks, and they weren't going back there, for no money in this world!
So, in order to get one such giant, man-eating catfish (that's actually a corpse eating fish), one has to get down there equipped with a full diving equipment!
