Super cheap alternative to Zippo lighter fluid - VM&P Naphtha at your local Home Depot, Lowe’s or neighborhood hardware store.

VM&P has some additives that make it a bit more volatile than lighter fluid. Coleman fuel is a direct replacement for naphtha lighter fluid. The Walmart camp fuel is the same and 8 dollars a gallon here. Great for filling handwarmers. Note: White gas is Naphtha and in no way resembles Auto Gasoline.

You can use rubbing alcohol (super clean, cleaner than lighter fluid, cheap, evaporates a little faster and just a touch harder to light) or high alcohol nail polish remover.... I guess it depends what your using it for.... But if using to smoke it's clean, and it's not super bad smelling to everyone you walk by or are near

I just use a butane insert, can't stand the evaporation.

Need to get a peanut lighter one of these days as I hear it's less of an issue for them but great advice for saving cash in the future man ☺️

2020 I bought this exact VM&P Naptha product and it did not light easily, an average of 5-6 tries until it lit, unacceptable. But High Flash Naptha from Sherwin Williams works very well, and I've used that many times.

lol lighter fluid lasts longer in your pocket, naptha will evaporate in your pocket very fast, my favorite way is to take the insert out of the case and hang the insert in a bucket of gasoline for about an hour, this will last you a week easily

You can use gasoline US soldiers did that and also used jet fuel in world war 2 just don’t over fill

I'm no rocket sciencentist but wouldn't it just be much easier to use alcohol as lighter fluid... plus it's cheap

Thanks. Is it cleaner than Zippo's fluid? What's the best, cleanest fluid for Zippos, the one that won't have carbon buildup. For Butane, the best is Colibri, it's very clean:
