How to change your oil and filter (why it’s important / how to do it / what to look for)

Changing oil can be a tricky procedure. That was the primary reason for us to create this educational videos.

Before commencing this procedure ensure you have the correct oil grade and quantity and the correct oil filter. Run the engine up to the operating temperature, switch the engine off and remove the key.
Open the bonnet/ hood...
Brake Cleaner is ideal for removing stains or grease. Remove the engine oil filler cap. Using a suitable waste oil container remove the oil sump/pan drain plug and allow engine oil to drain away into the container.
Remove the oil filter and allow any oil to drain away.
When the oil has reached a slow drip, replace the sump pan plug ensuring you fit a new seal. Install a new oil filter. It is good practice to add a smear of engine oil to the oil filter oil seal, this allows good seal and fit.
Refill the engine with the correct oil and quantity.
Start the engine and allow it to idle. Check for visible leaks.
After five minutes shut down the engine, wait for two minutes, and then check the oil level. The oil level does not have to be at the high mark for your engine to have enough protection to run safely.
Congratulation, you have successfully changed the oil in your car!
